Hi All,

Wondering if anyone currently has his/her express entry profile opened. I needed to confirm the date format in the application portal under 'address/personal history'

Basically, I got rejected because error in date I wrote as lived in a country. CIC said I wrote 2007/11/01 to 2008/09/01 in my address/personal history form and the actual dates which are stamped on my passport and in the police certificate shows that I started living on 2007/11/24 and not 2001/11/01.

I can't get info on my address/personal history anymore, so I wanted to know if the specif date format on this form allows allows one to enter specific dates - and not month ad year only.

Also, CIC said my case is closed and that they will provide a full refund, and also advised I have to begin a new application. Wondering if I can write a letter (CSE), apologizing and stating the right dates, instead of waiting for another pool again.

NOC Code......

that would be an option & I don’t remember if the format had asked for ‘day’ or just month and year, however,I had attached a LoE stating all dates to the correct to the days ...
If your appeal doesn’t succeed and you are creating a profile again (& I believe you are at higher crs) make sure u pay attention as you fill in...and it would be good to include a LoE specifiyig exact ‘from’ and ‘to’ dates might help

if you're referring to personal history, then I believe you are taking about e-apr and not ee. in that case, the section asks for dates. i remember this clearly cause I kept look at each date of my visa stamps while filing in the travel details.

you should try appealing back by raising a cse

Yes, @mapleleaf987. Thanks so much!

It is Post ITA application - which is submitted for consideration.

So, it's indeed a mistake from me :-(.

Obviously re-entering the pool isn't an option now because of the score so I'll try raise a CSE. I will equally call CIC today.

I've read few thread that one basically needs to enter the pool again but anyone with similar experience with a success story please?

I have the exact same problem with the dates. I raised cse for reconsideration. After 2 weeks, I got message that result is still the same(GET NEW PCC).
I entered the pool again. I'm waiting on my new PCC before I file in my application. It's rare to get approved for reconsideration if it's pcc issue.
If maybe NOC code or other issues, they may consider. I'm not saying u can't try. U never know. U can enter pool again just as a back up plan.

Thanks @seancole.

Even if reapplying I won't be using a new police certificate. Actually, the date in the police certificate is correct, the only issue here is that I entered wrong 'day' in the dates 01 and 01 instead of 24 and 30, respectively. (and these dates are stamped on my passport - just that I made the mistake in my personal history form.

Also, the initial police certificate I submitted with my main application in Aug actually has a wrong entry date but I submitted that with my application while waiting for a new one. So when I got the PCC with the right date, my spouse who has the issue of wrong date sent it via CSE few weeks ago.

So, I'm not sure if the officer has used the initial PCC with the wrong entry date. Also not sure it makes sense to refer them to my passport to confirm the rights dates.

Both my husband and I have been living in Canada for over 4 years, and we have added 2 to the country's sparse population, and the officer can't even consider that:-(.

Any further insights will be appreciated.

I'd suggest reapplying making the dates 24 and 30 correspond with your PCC. Also include pages of your passport so that the VO can see that. You should also write a letter of explanation with regards to the situation.

Your prayer should be a different VO looks into your file who is more lenient and understands. I don't think the same VO officer checks different applications. It would probably be pushed to someone else whenu reapply.

My assumption is that if u raise a CSE, it might be directed to the same VO that checked the initial one. I believe some are hard-headed.

I wish u all the best and hope all goes well.

Thanks @seancole. Yeah, exactly. The CIC agent I spoke with few hours ago said it all depends on the officer - can reopen my file if he wants. Im writing a letter to apologize

People are usually lot of easy and cheerful around the holidays so hopefully that works in your favour. All the best.

Hi there,

I had a similar case and lodged case and got it reopened.

In my case I was my address history had country A from 01/01/2009 to 31/01/2009 and country B from 01/02/2009 to 17/01/2009.

I had done that as I considered this my mailing address but I actually left country A on 28/01/2009 and stayed temporarily in a hotel until I sorted my proper address for Country B by the 01/02/2009. This was reflected in my old passport with immigration date stamps (embarking etc) and my police certificate for country A had the actual dates of leaving the country.
So I got a letter saying my application was incomplete . I lodged a case specific enquiry explaining the above, attached my old passport showing my immigration date stamps showing I had left the country and my police certificate reflected this correctly and apologize d for any confusion . It took 2 months but they reopened the case . In the mean time I had created another profile and got another invitation while waiting to hear back . But they reopened and I just close the other profile ... So it is possible if you explain things clearly and you have evidence to back it up ... Hope this helps!

Hi Nish_j,

Thanks so much!!!

Yes, I'm writing a letter to apologize for the mistake I made in writing 01/11/2007 instead of 24/11/2007. My police certificate actually covers the dates of my actual residency.

And, I already submitted my old passport showing all these dates. So the issue here is me writing a wrong date in personal history form - not that police certificate doesn't cover my residency as CIC has alleged.

As I've traveled a lot, I'm also presenting all my travel histories in a table in the letter.

The only issue is the police certificate doesn't show the date I left but only shows the date the investigation was carried out (i.e. August this year), so I'm writing a letter to explain that too. I was told that's how they write police certificate in that country.

Thanks for this relief Nish_j!
