Guys I think that people from these countries (Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyz, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan) have difficulty for SS. The reason for these difficultly is an office in Pakistan. See this

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/pakistan/defence-defense/index.aspx?lang=eng

They are dealing with high number of applications and this is why they are late.
On the website that you linked, it says the office undertakes criminality check (RCMP does criminality check in Canada) and most candidates already have their criminality passed. Security screening is undertaken by CBSA and CSIS. The website you linked does not talk about security screening.

"facilitation of information exchanges between Canadian law enforcement and Pakistan law enforcement with regards to all aspects of criminality" I think all aspects is related to SS

Dude it says it right there "criminality"

When you apply for Permanent Residency the IRCC does the following checks:

Eligibility
Medical
Criminality
Security

Criminality and Security are two different thing.

Sometimes if they have doubt about security they go into extra security and that is called security screening.

Dear experts in this group,

Recently I realize that I am in a similar situation as many of us in this group under SS. I have a few inquiries related to my recent notes that need your guidance on its interpretation.

I am the primary applicant and I can see the exact words "security screening" which shows the status "Not Started". For my spouse, there is only the word "Security" after the word "Type:", and there are no sub-activities.

1. Does it mean that currently, only I am undergoing SS; or my husband will also go through SS at a later time?

2. Today I just requested immigration screening file through fax. Does it mean that by this request, my SS screening will be expedited, as this report is often generated within 8 weeks?

3. Should I request CBSA report at the moment? Or should I wait until I hear back about the immigration screening file?

My background check has started from the beginning of September, and my application will reach 7 month by the end of this month. The waiting becomes more and more painful. I look forward to any informed suggestion on my inquiries. Thank you.

1. In my case, SS is blank in my CIC gcms notes but through my constituent's MP's office and gcms note from CSIS I have verified that I am in SS. So, if in your CIC gcms notes if says not started then it means they have not started yet but if it is blank which might indicate that you are in SS.
2. Ask GCMS note from CSIS instead of fax. They will send you a CD which will say the status of your CSIS security screening details (start end and end date)
3. What I have seen so far in my case and other peoples' case, CBSA just sent you the same CIC gcms note.

Dear sam_dawkins, Thank you for your input.

Is the gcms note from CSIS the same as the one from CIC gcms note?
Do you mean that the gcms note from CSIS is the the immigration screening file? I requested my ss screening file through this website, https://www.csis-scrs.gc.ca/scrtscrnng/index-en.php#bm02, and I believe they will send me a document, not a CD. Do I missing anything here? Thank you for your advice.

Brother I can bring you up to 20 candidates who have never been to Canada before! Being never came across an outlander who has been put on ss does not mean it never happens! No it hapoens dear!
I have 8 Egyptian acquaintances who have never been to Canada, yet they are under security screening.
Please go to your notes, check the activity section, you will find the 3 - 4 activities are all about sceurity screening, shining up over your notes!

Hi, i'm in IP2 since June 18. AOR is March 20, 2017- FSWO. I didn't order GCMS notes as i'm a bit concerned about giving access to my very personal info to some total stranger. I inquired about my application status through email and was told that my application requires additional verifications. i also have a graduate degree from Canada. could that be one of the reasons of delay? also recently, the review of documents status changed to: the additional documents you provided are being reviewed. I didn't provide any documents recently. anyone else in a similar situation?

May I ask how do you inquire through mail and get actual details. All I ever got through mail was a canned response "your application is being processed within our regulatory timeline" even though I have been waiting for 8 month, and they still tell me make sure none of your documents expire within 6 month
wtf!...

My case is extremely similiar to yours, march 30 AOR august 2 IP2

I simply emailed CPC Ottawa with my complete details asking about my status and they replied with this generic response.

so, now closing to a year, with they request new PCCs since the validity of PCC is one year as per their guidelines?
