Hi All,

I applied for Spousal Open Work permit on July 5, 2017 through online. It's been 3 months now and my application status still shows as In-progress.

I have two things in mind One filling out the online web form and requesting for the status & Second option is visiting the Delhi Canadian High Commission office in person and asking them for status. Please let me know your suggestions in this regard.

Fist Time SOWP Applied On – 27/02/2017

Applied From – Canada (My Spouse’s Lawyer from Canada)

Type of Application – Online

Additional Documents Requirement – 18/04/2017

Decision on – 13/05/2017

Decision Result – SOWP Refusal



Reason for Refusal


Reason (1) The application Center didn’t receive LMIA Letter (Actually LMIA Letter is not required for SOWP from my knowledge)


Reason (2)The application center didn’t receive Spouse’s employment documents (Actually we submitted everything as PDF File)



After that My Spouse’s Lawyer applied again for the Second Time with updated documents.

I am an Indian Citizen currently working in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.


So I believe that my application is processing from Embassy of Canada, Abu Dhabi because of my current resident status and also First SOWP refusal letter also from Embassy of Canada, Abu Dhabi.


Till now I never received any update about my Second SOWP application. Now 4 months finished. I don't know about the processing time at Embassy of Canada, Abu Dhabi.


I would like to know is there anyone who can help/advise me in this matter.

Request for CIAP notes to know the exact reason for refusal. What additional documents did they request the first time? I applied in Feb 2017 for SOWP and mine was processed at AbuDhabi office. Got refusal on June 6,2017. Refusal reasons were1) did not receive LMIA letter 2) No proof of marriage. I requested the CIAP notes and the reason was there was no proof of marriage like marriage certificate and photos attached to it. My agent from India did not submit the documents I gave him with my application . I applied 2nd time on 12th June with explanations for the reasons they listed for refusal. My application was approve on 27 Sep and I got my passport stamped yesterday. I am thinking you would here from them soon.

I am yet to apply for SOWP, I have seen u comment saying upfront Medicals.
Can you please let me know how can i go for upfront medicals in Bangalore location.

We did at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai. You have to mention upfront medicals for Canada visa. You can check cic.gc.ca to know more about existing panel physicians in your location.

5) Offer letter
6) NOC- letter from employer
7) Notice of assesment
8) Pay slips
9) Bank statement around CAD 10K

for Spouse in India.

1) request letter
2) Educational certificates
3) Marriage certificate
4) upfront medical exam
5) bank statement

Hi all

Can somebody suggest solution to my problems?

Actually my husband got closed work permit from his firm and along with him I also got my spousal work permit.
But due to some budget constraint his company is delaying to send him there.
My queries are:
1.can I move to ca if I get an offer with spousal work permit?
2.can he get into ca with some other company offer with current closed work permit?
3.are we eligible to receive 50 points if we get a job offer for pr purpose?
4.could you please suggest steps to get job without being in canada?

It would be a great help if you could answer my qns.

Hi All,

I have applied for my spouse open work permit on August 10th. Unfortunately I lost my job last week. But still the visa application is in progress. Should I need to inform this to CIC or can I just ignore it. Since there is no change with the applicants details can I go ahead until a decision is made? Please suggest!

does NOC mean No Objection Letter ? Also Do we need to show bank statement from my spouse side in india ?

NOC means national occupational classification which explains your skill level which should either O or A or B. You can get this from your employer.
Spouse bank statement from India did not affect. This is my case. We had less than Rs.10 K in our account.

It has been more then 95 days yet not received any status. Can anyone help me what to do?
