It is a very regulated industry. And like the Canadian Banking system we have a few 'big' players who have the majority of the business. We don't have as many independents as you'll find in the US.

As Newtone mentions - what specifically are you looking for?

Lots of scope, you have to pass your LLQP exam and then pass the life insurance exam. You have to sell since you will be compensated depending on the number of people buying your product

agricultural research sector, you need canadian work experience again, start with mcdonalds/security guard/ dishwasher etc, build your Canadian work experience and if possible Canadian degree and then look for jobs in your respective fields

I have been reading your posts , do u just copy paste about the Canadian experience. If a person is seeking advice on the job scenario, it means he is new to Canada isn't it. If he has Canadian experience why would anybody post here its common sense. Everybody would really appreciate if you post some meaning information rather than just break people's confidence.

You may find this site helpful re Insurance jobs:

http://www.insurance-canada.ca/index.php

I would do a google search for Canadian Insurance companies and go to their sites to see what types of current opportunites they have, so you can review the job descriptions and look at the requirements vs your qualifications.

Many of the companies will service a wide suite of insurance needs from car/auto - home- life etc.

This is a short list, but a few you can start with are:

Manulife Canada
Sunlife Financial Canada
Belair Direct
Ceridian
Great West Life
Allstate
StateFarm
Co-operators Insurance
RBC Insurance
Standard Life

@ canyeah_Can

firstly this is a fact that you need Canadian experience, whether u like it love it or hate it, you need the experience. Now if you think Canadian employers are going to lay down a bed of roses for people who are coming into this country with foreign experience you are living in a fools paradise.

Secondly, its better if you hear it from us, in the long run it will save you a lot of disappointment especially when you take the time and effort to create your resume, find time out of your busy schedule to book an interview (maybe even multiple interview with same company) and finally told "Sorry you are over qualified or sorry you dont have Canadian experience".

Thirdly I am already established in Canada I've been through all this nonsense so I am trying to help others by giving them a taste of reality because people are under the misconception that they come here and get jobs that they've had back in their home countries. They dont understand the importance of Canadian experience. People dont understand they have to start from scratch, its an uphill battle

Now if you want to live in denial and think life is nice and rosy sure go ahead but like I said before that dosen't change anything.
