I am from the USA and my husband lives in Canada. I recently received the e-mail asking me to link my application. My question is, now that the outland application is beginning, can I visit my husband in Canada? I live in Buffalo, NY so I would be driving across. Please let me know.

Sure you can visit him anytime. Was no need to wait for any email, you could have visited him before or anytime during the app processing also.

I have been visiting for the past year and a half every other weekend, just for the weekend. But I am nervous they will tell me I can't cross. I am trying to plan a vow renewal because our family got really mad that we eloped (so we could save money for a house) instead of having a wedding. I just want to be able to plan it and visit my husband every other weekend.

Is there anything I need to take with me other than a letter from my employer stating that I need to be back to work by Monday mornings?

Yes you may visit him. I crossed the border many times while the sponsorship was being processed. Whenever they asked me what is my purpose in Canada, I am clear with the word "visit" -- "i am visiting my wife." i Never had an issue. Just be honest. Most CBSA officers Ive encountered are actually quite nice. :)

Ok. Thank you so much. I was really worried about that because I have heard stories from others whose relatives were not able to cross. But that was a few years ago. :)

Which border do you cross? Montreal? because I find that they have been very nice at the Montreal border from both sides cbsa and cbp. Never had an issue.

I've seen other people saying that you should take the sponsorship approval letter with you if you have it. I'm also going to visit my husband and my app is still in process. I'm taking my marriage certificate with me and the sponsorship approval letter. I'm very nervous but positive it will be fine :)

Once I get the sponsorship approval letter then I will take it with me. You should be ok though. Where are you coming from?
