Hey folks,
I just called CIC and they said the work experience counts from the date you've received your PGWP. so the experience while on implied status doesn't count.
However, it seems like some people actually get PR using the "implied status work experience" Is this just a mistake by whoever reviewed applications?
Can I give it a shot with the implied status work experience? If I get rejected, am I going to be banned or something?

It will make a huge change to my CRS as I can apply with 2 years experience.

Thanks!

You can use the work experience from the moment you apply for your PGWP.
Thanks for the reply. How do you know that? I actually talked to CIC agent and he also said the same thing (saying that implied status work experience counts) but after he checked with his colleague, the answer was no.

Because I've helped people obtain their PR with such work experience.

Those customer service representatives are completely useless.
Thanks a lot for your input. I'd just like to add one thing I forgot to say - The rep said the implied status experience does not count for CEC category ONLY - maybe the people you helped were in FST, FSW, PNP, or any other categories?

Nope. They were CEC applicants.

That representative is truly high on something.

You will have the burden of proof to indicate in your LOE and with supporting documentation of the date you submitted your PGWP application to count implied status working days.

"Note: Paragraph 186(w) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) allows students who have completed their program of study to work while they are waiting for a decision on their work permit application, as long as they were a full-time student enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI) in a post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program and they did not exceed the allowable hours of work."

If I get rejected, is there any penalty? I know it sounds ridiculous but perhaps I will be on blacklist or banned for certain period of time

to the OP, I used 6 months of implied work experience and got my PR under CEC category in 2 months without a My PGWP was delayed in 2015 when I applied (there was some technical issues with CIC then and many applications were delayed)

Just write a letter in the LOE section stating that it is implied. CIC has all the details and dates when you applied anyway, they will figure it out.

I have the same question.
Per CIC, if a temporary resident applies for renewal of their work or study permit and their permit expires before a decision is made, paragraph 186(u) and section 189 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR) (the right to continue working or studying under the same conditions pending a determination of their application for renewal) apply only as long as the person remains in Canada.
From my understanding, the "Implied status" we have while we are waiting for the result of PGWP is not based on the study permit, it is based on the off campus work permit that we have together with our study permit. According to CIC, "implied status" is the right to continue working/studying Under the Same Conditions. Our off campus work permit only allows us to work no more than 20 hrs a week. If, this is the case, then we are only allowed to work part time while waiting for PGWP so technically, that experience counts, but only 20 hrs a week.
Am I understanding correctly? Help.
