Hi Guys,

Last night, I received an email that we need to submit our passport to the nearest visa centre which the documents checklist in order to get a PRTD so that I can travel to Canada.
I am a little confused about the documents needed, here is what a part of the check list documents says

Below is the documents checklist I am talking about...

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5627E.pdf

I wanted to know if i actually need to apply for a PRTD? The plan is that I will go with my family to Canada and after showing an entry i will come back but my wife will stay back and eventually come back with our PR cards to Dubai.

So in my case will I need to apply fro a PRTD? and fill up the documents checklist?

So you are not yet PR but are about to land as a PR with your family? In that case, you don't need a PR TD. You have your PR visa. After you land, you become a PR.

The next time you want to enter Canada, if your wife had received and brought your PR card, you do not need a PR TD. If your PR card got lost in the mail or something else happened to it, stolen, destroyed, etc., you would need to apply for a PR TD.

I had same question because the NY VAC does not seem to have listed PR visa stamping as an available service on their website. They only list PRTD and this service requires that the IMM5627E be completed:

Helpful answer. Thanks.
