No, you cannot take one case example to be the reference for how they assess all cases. In one's case they might not call the employer, and in another's case they might. It depends.

True!! I know a few others who told me that their employers didn't receive any calls. I'm just trying to figure out what the general trend is.

There's no way CIC officers can call every single employer in every single candidate's work history. They usually only call if they suspect something might be wrong with the reference letter.

For nurses they do, and I have heard weird stories from the organization which I work. Like they send people over the agency and these checkers come and ask the security or the front staff whether they know this or that person and they walk away. Of course, the results will always be negative with such irresponsible inquiry, because staffs change and these checkers has to verify with the person in charge or the one with signature power. Our administrator is fed up with this authority undercutting way of doing things. So, I would also like to know the conversation happened in verification.
