What should I tell the CBSA officer if I get caught to be a PR?

I have just realized that my PR status is still valid.

I have IMM1000, SIN card, RRSP (I did work while I was doing my bachelor and master degree in Canada) and an international driver license good for driving in Canada.

I have expired Driver License and Health Card.

I do not have a PR card because I left Canada before it was introduced. That is, I do not currently meet the Permanent Residency Obligations requirement.

I am from a visa-exempt country. In next month, I will return to Canada (not by air). I think I will be questioned by CBSA officer. If so, I will admit that I am a PR followed by 2 options below.
1. I will tell the officer that I will only stay in Canada for 2 weeks even though my plan is to stay for at least 6 years until I get my citizenship; or
2. I will tell the officer that this time I will stay in Canada until I get my citizenship.

I don't want to get reported. What should I tell the CBSA? Please help!

DON'T LIE! It's misrepresentation. CBSA and IRCC take a very dim view of this. You may or may not get reported, but I would expect you will. But never lie them. You never know what they document and will drag up if you go to appeal for RO.

Thanks Buletruck for your reply.

If I will very likely to be reported (meaning 2 is the only option), I should change my plan to be a short visit instead of a long stay as I already have my ticket, hotel and car paid for 2 weeks, don't waste! I should not bring my IMM1000 or SIN and I should tell the officer that I will stay for 2 weeks to visit some old buddies in Canada.

I have heard, but don't know for sure, that if you can renounce your PR at the border and they will give you a visa for entry to clear up personal matters at the same time. Someone else would need to confirm this. Being a PR, whether you meet RO or not, they have to let you in. It's all a matter of whether they report you or not. If they do, it's your choice to go through the appeal process or not to retain your PR.

Without IMM1000, my passport alone should be good enough to enter Canada because I am from a visa-exempt country.

I will not renounce my PR voluntarily, it is against my will.

Even though as a PR you can come into Canada it is likely as a matter of routine that CBSA may ask you when you were last in Canada given travelling on a foreign passport so answer honestly regardless of the implications given although there is no CBSA record of leaving Canada does not help to be dishonest in the long term. General rule for the OP and anyone else is with CBSA if not asked do not volunteer information that at least is not illegal but misleading/misinforming is.

Do not lie. You are not required to volunteer information, but lying is a serious offence.

The CBSA has the right to search anything crossing the border. That includes your electronic devices. If they choose to look, and find any emails that would indicate looking for a job, planning on staying, etc., and you said you were coming for two weeks, it would be bad for you, and could result in things far worse than simply losing permanent residency status.

If they ask, you can plead your case with them. If they report you, you can appeal.

Alternatively, you can choose to give up Permanent Residency status, and come as a genuine visitor.

Not necessary. American citizens holding US passports can be inadmissible to Canada.

Don't lie. If they realize then or in the future that you lied, you can say bye bye to Canada. There was a big thing in the news recently about CIC cracking down on fraudulent applications and the amount of people getting deported is at a record high.

Can I travel between Vancouver and Toronto by air if I can enter Canada without being reported by CBSA?

Do I need to show any ID?

To travel within Canada all you need is government issued photo ID. No need for passport or PR card
