PR card application online status and processing times

Hi,
I have sent my application for my PR card renewal and it was received on Feb 2nd according to Canada Post.
According to CIC they are processing the applications received on Jan 26th and it was updated on March 17th (even though the page says March 10th) and it is about time mine would be processed. At this point, I can't find my application status online though.

I have 2 questions.

(1) As mentioned above, the Online timeline says they are processing the applications received on Jan 26th. Does it mean they've just started working on them (at the point of the update) and therefore, only those applications can be checked online? ("check the status of your application"). In other words, It's normal I can't find my status yet but can expect it to show up anytime soon(?).

(2)Provided that my application goes smoothly, how long does it usually take them to be processed from the point they show up online?

I'm going abroad soon, and I DO have a PR card which will be still valid when returning, but if possible I want to travel with the new card and I want to be home during the time it can expect delivery of the card in case something happens.

Thank you.

Once you receive AOR then after few days you will see your status online.

49 days is the approximate time however it can go up to 10-20 additional days.

Either you will receive your card by mail or you will receive a letter to attend an interview to receive the PR card. Anyway, someone has to present at that address while you are away so that you are informed about the pr card pickup else if you miss the date then it can cause issues.

Thanks!
But are you sure about "someone must be present"? It'll be my 3rd card and the 2 other times(1 initial, 1 renewal) I just received them in regular mail. I remember thinking how "unprotected" it was. Also do you get AOR by email? I didn't receive them either in the past 2 times. Have things changed?

[edit] Sorry I misunderstood about the mail part. You mean someone has to be able to read the letter to know which date to pick up. Thanks.

Regardless of if you receive AOR or not, keep checking e-cas and your regular mail.

I meant to say that if you are away and mail comes from CIC, there should be someone to open the mail to check if the PR card is in the mail or if an interview has been scheduled to pick it up. In either case, the person can inform you while you are abroad if he/she has received your PR card or the pick up letter. If the letter is for pickup then there would be a date mentioned on the letter stating when to go and pickup the card. That way you can go on time to pick up the card on time.

Would there be someone to check and open your mail while you will be away abroad?

Yes my neighbor friend has a key to my place and sometimes sort out my mail for me when I'm away. I could ask him to do that.
