Email from CIC that PR card renewal needs secondary review

Hi Everyone,
Exactly 7 months since secondary review, I am really happy to report that my PR card is in the mail.
Goodluck to you who are still waiting.. ! Hope you all will get yours soon.

Here is my timeline:

1. We received your application for a permanent resident card on April 7, 2016.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s) on May 27, 2016.
3. We started processing your application on May 27, 2016.
4. We sent you correspondence on July 13, 2016. If you have not yet provided the information or the requested documents, please do so as soon as possible. Please wait until you receive the correspondence before sending us additional information, as the correspondence will outline all information that is required.
5. Your Permanent Resident card was sent by mail on February 9, 2017.

Yes,,, I'm so happy and relieved.
I missed the holiday with my family because I did not want to take the risk of not being here while my application still going on and IRCC people told me three times on my phone call to them that there is no guarantee of getting PRTD.
Glad you got yours and goodluck on your citizenship planning, I'm not sure what I'll do yet. Cheers!!!

There is no update on my ecas until now, it still in process. I wouldn't have known that my card is in the mail if I did not check my timeline so I suggest for you to check your timeline, it could change there first.
But be careful though, it may arrive when you least expect it! Sigh.

That's exactly what I mean, check the timeline and the only way to do that is when you click the underlined "in process". because I don't know about you guys but for me, I always check my ecas but I did not think to check my timeline everyday. Maybe just a gut feeling why I had to check it late last night and the reason why I checked it this morning was I just want to refresh my mind about the date when my file went to secondary review... so glad I did!
And wow... a week since you got your card and they did not update the ecas still? Maybe in two weeks time? Keep checking haha!

I am a canadian citizen, so are my two Boys. I like to discuss about My Wife who is a PR from April 2012. and expiration of the PR card is June 2017.

she was out of Canada for 1015 days.
means she was in canada physically for more then 810 required days.
Out of 1015, she was out of Canada, she stayed with me in my home country,after i become canadian citizens for around 380 days.

should i apply immediately for renewal of PR card from my home country or i should fly with her to apply PR renewal from Canada only. seniors please help take me right steps and oblige. how much time it will take for issuance of new PR card as per present processing delay.

I am not sure that it is a good idea to renew a PR card from outside Canada. The immigration services will notice that you don't live here and that will automatically trigger further investigation that might even lead to investigate you to make sure you got your citizenship legals and lawfully.

As for secondary review, there are no indications what actually triggers a secondary review, it can be anything, even sporadic choice. My gut feeling is that it is known that she has stayed a long time outside of the country, despite the fact that she has more than the minimum required, and despite the fact that she is accompanying you (a Canadian Citizen) outside the country, she will probably get a secondary review.

That's exactly my thought!
They are so strict about residency obligation, even if you complied the number of days they still want to know where, when and how often you travel. On my phone calls to IRCC they always told me that it is good to be in Canada when your application is in process.

How do you check your timeline? I have been checking on ecas which just says that my application was received on Oct 31, 2016. Thats all.

I read a lot of posts receiving secondary review for PR card renewal . Most of them traveled out of Canada during their 2 years of stay.

Will I still get a secondary review if I have not traveled out of Canada AT ALL during the 2 years I am showing?

My 2 years are in the end part of the 5 yr period.

I think that is only one factor. What countries you have visited over the past 5 years will likely also be a factor in this (certain ME countries or other 'fraud prone' countries etc.). Also if you are cutting it really close or of you are not able to show strongish residential ties (eg a job, rent agreement, mortgage etc.), that may also trigger a secondary review. In short I think it there are a number of factors in play and it is hard to predict If a certain application will be sent for a secondary review.
