Hello Forum People,

I know a similar topic is already floating around, but started a new one to be more specific on my situation. Hope you guys understand.

Just wanted to know if there are any applicant/s who applied for citizenship and Immediately Went for 4 weeks vacation without notifying CIC?

If so, did the application process went on smoothly without any hiccups?

I went on a 2 week vacation. No problems.

The main issue with going away on vacation is that you are often given short notice for the test and oath. For example, I got my test invite letter about 10 days before the test date. To be safe, you should have people checking your mailbox frequently while away and look for letters from IRCC. Check eCAS often. And if you get a notice, you need to be able to come back in time.

Hi keesio,

Thanks for your reply. Just wanted to ask couple of more questions.

1) When you say No problems , did the CIC officer see the new stamps on your passport , did he ask you any additional questions ?

2) I am travelling for 3 weeks and my application is in process right now. Do I need to report to CIC regarding the travel as per the law ?

3) Will this initiate any RQ or cause a delay in oath ?

Thanks.

1) The CIC did not see any stamps because I didn't have any. I am a NEXUS member so I don't talk to an officer but instead use kiosks and don't get my passport stamped. But when the interviewer asked me if I traveled after the application date, I said "yes" and disclosed all my travels and the reasons for it. There was no followup questions.

2) 3 weeks is a bit borderline... hard to say if you need to notify them. If you just applied, then I think it is fine not to because it is very likely you won't get an inquiry from them that needs immediate attention (like an interview date). But to be safe, while you are away, will you have someone checking your mailbox for mail from CIC?

3) I think the reasons for the travel can have an impact. If you are going back to you home country to spend time with relatives during holidays, then it should not raise any alarm. But if you are not a US resident and go to the US to explore job opportunities, then yes it may cause an RQ.

Thank you for your reply keesio.

My wife will be available to check the mailbox daily. I applied on Dec 30th 2016 and I am travelling next month in Feb.

Reason for travel is to get my mom on super-visa. She got her visa last year so I booked tickets last September for this years travel.

I am planning to take my moms passport and boarding passes for the written test/interview so I can show the CIC officer I travelled for a reasonable 3 weeks.

Sounds Justifiable keesio ?

I can't speak for CIC but it certainly sounds reasonable. With your wife staying home to check the mail, you should be fine
