Hi,
I am a PR for about 10 years and renewing date is coming in May.
I have two questions about my passport copy.
(1)
I have renewed my PR card once and I have no recollection of certifying any of my documents five years ago. However a few of my friends who recently renewed their PR cards said they certified their passport copies.
In the CIC webpage, it just says
One (1) main identity document
A photocopy of one of the following: your valid passport or travel document or ..............
and nowhere in the webpage it says "certified" photocopy. Usually if a copy of something needs to be certified it says "a certified copy" and indeed in the webpage it does say you need a "certified" copy of the original document for translation of documents. So other than this specific purpose I understand you don't need your document certified(?).
(2)Some websites/pages including this forum (some posts) say that you need the copies of all the pages of the passport, especially to show the stamps of your entry and exits of countries.
However on the CIC website it says the copy of identity has to include
the document type and number;
issue and expiry date;
your name;
your photo; and
your date of birth
and NOT all the pages. The application document doesn't require them either even though it asks to write down all the times when I was out of the country.
So, my question is if they are certifying their copies, including all the pages of the passport just to be safe? Or am I missing something in their instruction(s)?
Again I don't remember doing them 5 years ago, but I want to make sure.
Thank you.
