Renewing Work permit as a protected person.Is fee Payable?

Hello All!

I have a situation.First time I applied for work permit as refugee claimant. Now I am applying 2nd time as a protected person as case was approved.Am I exempt from work permit fee or still have to pay it?

If anyone knows please share.Thanks in advance.

That's not true at all.

When you apply for the first time, it's free of charge.
If you renew your work permit and you haven't had a hearing/negative decision, you can renew it for free.
If you were refused and you are appealing the decision, you will have to pay to renew the permit.

Yes, and if you paid already, they will refund you the money.

Check your credit/debit card for refund. It takes sometimes months to get a refund from immigration. BUT THEY WILL REFUND YOU. BUT YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD.

Refugees and protect person not paying it s free so you can check it in cic website when u see fee for work permit page see the bottom of page they mention it

No I have not made a payment yet. And I did check with the Guide 5553 and you guys were right, for refugee claimants and refugee doesn't need to pay for the fee So I don't need to attached Proof of Payment in the Documents List, correct?

Btw, I have a question about filling out the form. Since I'm applying for Open Working Permit, should I leave the date of expected working period empty? Also since I come as a student and now a refugee, I should provide both copies of documents right?

yea you have to pay $150 i dont know maybe more or less but go to your lawyer office and they will apply for you and give you paper sign by your lawyer until you get your work permit from immigration so you dont have to worry still you can work and if some body ask you for work permit you can show your lawyer letter it work

myself i paid , and i went to my lawyer office and told me to bring $150 cheque and fill up form with my sign and send it to immigration and gave me a letter sign by lawyer so i can still work until i get my work permit, why you not pay if you work?

Seems like there are two sides and answers so far.not 100% sure.

My question is as i have already paid will they refund my fee?
