So my wife and I received our ITA this week and the baby is due in 2-3 weeks.

We are planning to file the application after the baby is born, however chances are that the birth certificate and Passport might not be ready in the 60 day time frame. I'm hoping we can raise a request to extend filing the necessary paperwork for the newborn?

Would that be the right approach to this "predicament".

TIA

Congratulation for ITA, and wish you a great news regarding the new baby soon.

You can write a case specific enquiry at "https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx" and ask CIC whatever you want.

More information can be found in this forum "http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/had-a-baby-after-receiving-ita-t386799.0.html"

Best of luck

hi there,
you are in canada or in india?
if in canada, that does not matter your baby born before or after.

if in india , you submit your application and later you can update your information , and there is second option when your process will close to complete that time cic will contact you if you want any changes like new born , any marrige or divorce ect..... then you can add your new born.

Hi
I was in the same situation as you with my daughter in June. Once she was born I included her on the application my AOR was July 14 how ever my daughters birth certificate did not come in time. I'm still waiting for the cic to request my daughters documents but I'm not sure if they need them as she is a Canadian citizen

So it seems that I can make amendments after submitting applications with a CSE.

Follow up question - while filling out family history - parents etc., should we add the baby's details, since it will be born before we submit the application? And then do a CSE once we have his/her birth certificate/passport etc.?

OR

Do we do a CSE with baby's details after submission of application.

In both cases CIC will know that the baby was born prior to us submitting the application.

In scenario A we wont have enough documents for the baby (to make the 60 day deadline)? Wont the CIC cancel the application if we do not provide all the documents? Should we open the CIC as soon as we submit the e-docs?

In scenario B, CIC will know about the baby and might think we were lying/mis-representing.

Best course?
