I am a student in Canada. Just completed 1 semester there. Do I still need to provide my bank statement and invitation letter. My husband will be applying from Latvia(Europe) where he stays in work permit.

Yes you need to show that you have enough funds, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE NOT EARNING AND YOU ARE ON A STUDENT PERMIT. convincing the visa officer when you are on a student permit is harder

I don't think there is anything else that you can do other that what you have already done. You can talk to CIC and try asking the customer service agent to send an email to the case processing agent, sometimes they do that. Also in your case way too much time has passed.

And the MP thing is for anyone who is already in Canada, the local MP's office sometimes helps in immigration matters. Since you are outside the country , this is not an option for you.

Hi I have recently got provincial nominee from Yukon.. I just wanted to know can my wife get open work permit because I have provincial nominee certificate??? And if so she lives in India currently.. Does she has to apply from India or I can apply online from Canada on behalf of her

Me and my wife applied together for my PGWP and her OWP. I had a full time job offer so we decided to apply together. At the time of application I didn't have any pay stub so I sent them later as case specific enquiry. Unfortunately CIC emailed me that there is no document saying I am her representative. But during our application we provided an FAMILY REPRESENTATIVE form. So, this time my wife send that family representative form. To our surprise yesterday CIC emailed that they cant add those documents as she is not her own representative. We are really confused whats going on. Why cant we add document to our file?
In both of the email CIC mentioned "If you have already provided the form kindly resend them". What are we missing here?

It is possible that you had sent a combined application earlier where you might have been the primary applicant and would have filled a representation form (dont remember the form number, check CIC and docs u submitted earlier). This may would ave made you the representative of your wife in the files of CIC and hence, they wouldn't be accepting the forms from her directly. Try sending the documents directly by yourself.

I applied at together on June 20th, I got original passport request but I am still waiting to hear for my wife's SOWP

From which VFS center did u apply??? bcs I applied study permit (myself) & open work permit for my spouse ( applied together) paper based application on June 11th @NEW DELHI VFS & file is being processed @ Bangalore VFS on June 22..till now no updates on both applications

I did online application for my LMIA approved work permit and did medicals upfront. My wife is still waiting to get a medical pass message from CIC.

Also, from what I understand VFS is just a front end / customer relations. All the back end process such as processing your application is done at New Delhi Canadian Embassy office (if you are an Indian resident / citizen). VFS just handles your application and your passport submision and delivery back to you.

i suppose an open work permit (SOWP)
should have no restrictions as to EMPLOYER AND EMPLOYMENT LOCATION...

i landed last july 12 at YVR and in the immigration i was issued a work permit with an EMPLOYMENT LOCATION - vancouver.

my husband's EMPLOYMENT LOCATION shows UNLNOWN in it and im worried i may not be allowed to work anywhere else but vancouver.

pls share your thoughts... thank you

btw, i applied SOWP last feb 2016, visa issued april6,2016 and landed july12.
i hope someone can answer for me.

Hi all,

I applied SOWP online outside Canada through an attorney on March 21st. I got medical request on April 12th. And my medicals passed on April 29th. I got an email on May 6th saying that they wanted payment for my Work permit and I sent them the payment. On May 9th, 2016 I got my refusal.. Later we sent them an email asking reasons for refusal on the same day. We did not get response from for a month and half and got an email from on June 30th. Now, am preparing documents for they have requested for.. How long does it take for processing (irrespective of what the result is approval or refusal) ?
