Hi all,

I am residing in USA and wanting to apply for EE for my spouse and I under FSW.
I will be taking IELTS end of April, also have all FBI certs and PPC from all countries resided past 10 years. My assessment is also completed and done (Bachelors and Masters - for both).

If I submit EE by mid May and IELTS is CLB 8+, how long you think the process will take from AOR until PPR? I want to know if before 2017 I am able to depart USA.

last question, once you are accepted and get the PR, how much time do I have to step in Canada before it 'expires', if there is an expiry date?

Most likely yes, but there is no guarantee. Usually most people get the PPR in 6 months or less, but there have been cases hwere it has taken longer. The earlier you apply, the better it will be.

It will depend on your medical date. You have to land in Canada within one year of your medical.

Can I show 401k account statement as POF ? I am assuming we can, as it is something I can liquidate whenever I need.

I included my 401k in my POF documents, but in the GCMS notes they appear to have disregarded my 401k. The officer mentioned that my etrade account (stocks and cash) exceeded the minimum requirement.

I had read a few months back that another user used her 401k only and it was accepted.

So all in all, it appears to be an acceptable form of funds, but there's no 'guarantee' they will accept it. Just be aware that you'll probably lose around 30% of your 401k if you withdraw/liquidate it early.

Best of luck!

Hi all,
I am planning to land by car through New Brunswick borders. Is there certain offices for new immigrants to deal with or we can use any border office for landing? Do we need to have appointment first?
Thank you.

Hello,

I have been in US since Jan 2005. As I have been here over 10 years, do I need to only provide the US(FBI) PCC or do I need to get the PCC from India too?

Also, does anyone know the best way to get good fingerprints to apply for FBI PCC? Should I just go to the police station close by and obtain the fingerprints?

I would appreciate if anyone who is aware of the above responds.

Thanks.

You need PCC from all places when you have lived for more than 6 months after you turned 18.

To get your fingerprinting done, go to the closest law enforcement agency. Before you go call them and let them know. They will charge you a small free $10-25 and will have a fingerprinting specialist who will do your fingerprinting for you. Usually all law enforcement agencies have the federal fingerprinting card required by the FBI, but its is always better to ask before you go.

FBI will not process your report in a state fingerprint card, so make sure you have the right on.

Hope this helps.

You can go to a local police station near you, but they use ink, which was not as neat, but maybe it was ok. I sent 3 sets of fingerprint (because FBI had rejected my prints twice, so wanted to give them a variety to work with this time), 1 was from my local police station and 2 from a private fingerprinting place in two different locations. It's called Morpho Trust, they have offices all over the US. They use live scan, so I think it should be more accurate than the ink one, because the ink one, you can press too hard or smear it by mistake. They charged me $10 at Morpho Trust, police station also charged me the same. There was no need for an appointment at the police station but you have to book an appointment online at the Morpho trust website. Both places will provide you with the fingerprint cards.

I am not sure about this private company. All police departments have fingerprinting specialists and use a magnetic ink, the standard for all fingerprinting in law enforcement. They are trained to do the fingerprinting and do it day in and day out for the local law enforcement and the federal law enforcement. I would trust them more than a private agency claiming to be superior.

Moreover, fingerprinting also depends on an individual's finger groves, how deep they are and whether was it done by a specialist or a regular cop. I got one done from the local sheriff's office and had no issue with the FBI. They asked me to come on a specific day since that was the time their fingerprinting specialist was available.

You will scan your fingers on an electronic device (similar to what the embassies use), then the print it out on the card with their printer. Their printer prints directly on the FBI card, they usually give you 2 cards for the $10.
