Is WES stupid and created problem for you?

I got my WES report today stating that XLRI Institute is non-recognized and its degree is non-equivalent to Masters.

How can a small college be recognized and not XLRI? XLRI is a premier institute in India and has always been ranked among the top 5 and WES doesn't recognize. What kind of joke is this?

Has anyone else been made fool by WES?

Can anyone suggest what can I do? I have already dropped a mail to them. Waiting for their reply.

If anyone can please help whose report status has changed in similar way, that will be of great help.

You know XLRI is a premier institute in India. IF WES has no data of XLRI how are they going to access your credential.

You write to WES, XLRI and check what response you get.

And how they can't have data? When I created my profile on WES and filled in my credentials, the name of XLRI came in drop down menu, from where I selected.
So its there in their database. Isn't it?
How can someone be so dumb and not now the top 5 institutes of any country when you are claiming as 'WORLD Education services'???

Don't be surprised and assume XLRI is known the world over. You are grossly mistaken

It is not MIT, Harvard, Oxford....

For your info even IIT, IIMs are not known to many countries in the world and do not fall even in first 100 best rated list of institutions .

Without debating these institutions, their prominence, excellence,

you focus on getting your credential assessed by explaining to WES. Hope you agree

If they did not recognize it - then 1) they have reason for it 2) you have made a mistake somewhere 3) they have made a mistake

if the University is listed in their drop down menu, its a blunder from their side. Please call them up or mail them immediately with the website of your University.

But do check your documents before doing so. see that all your credits are achieved and no subject is left out without credits. IF you have earned all credits than its definitely their mistake.

Yea, I got everything checked before sending them. Moreover, I spoke to XLRI dean office today and they informed that they are sending transcripts to alumni for WES almost every week and they have never come across such issue. It has been years since they have been doing so.
Moreover, I called them up, they said drop a mail. I did so. Let's hope good happens.

Maybe - I couldn't find this "top ranked institution" in the WORLD rankings. Plenty of other Indian universities in there though. 15 in fact. So even if they did have the top 10 from each country, yours wouldn't have made the list probably.
Unless its a part of another university?
Just because they know it exists doesn't mean its recognized, is the institution properly accredited? Because if not then they won't recognize the institution even if they know its physically there.

Recognition refers to the academic credentials of the institution. If they haven't been able to verify the standard of the qualifications from it they won't recognize it.

I don't think there's any formal way to get a re-evaluation, just e-mail them and see what they say.

Well XLRI has not bee enlisted on WES website. I tried theri "degree equivalency tool" but was not able to find it anywhere. It is amongst the top most business schools in India, but WES simply doesn't recognise it. However, if previously positive WES report was generated for students from this institute, I dont fing any reason why you got negetive report. Better wait for WES reply.

Have you ever made a mistake? Its a human error, these guys who process your application are also human beings.

E-mail them and I am sure they will sort it out

I think when you don't have entire information, you should probably reserve your comments.

The list you have taken is of technical universities and institutes, not the management. So first rule, understand the problem first before answering.

And the dean informed me that they have been sending transcripts for WES for years and never such problem has come that they fail to recognize XLRI.

I still think its a credit issue. The total credits achieved are not reflecting int he transcripts so they cannot give Canada equivalency. Better check the total credits gained in your transcripts.

When you mail them give them details that you have gained all. Get a letter from the college too stating credits.


Its not true that any university which is not listed will not get evaluated. They have evaluated degrees from many universities which are not anywhere in ranking but local ones. Its the course and subjects they check along with your credits.

If you notice, that list was provided to me. That is why I asked about it.

Right so its only ranking is within India? National rankings in one subject matter doesn't translate into being a top ranked institute. Schools that made the QS World Rankings are top ranked.

I don't need to google it. I'm pointing out why there may be recognition issues. Up to you and your institution to figure out why Canada's not recognizing it.
