We are Canadian PR if our child is born while we are on PR status, Will the child be a Canadian citizen. I know previously child was citizen but someone just told me that the rules have changed. Can someone kindly confirm this?

Your child is a Canadian citizen by birth. You can also apply for Canadian passport for the child by showing birth certificate.

Having a Canadian child does nothing to the parents' status.
Not quite true. Diplomats enjoying special status under FMIOA when they have children in Canada are Citizens if the foreign country, not automatic Canadians. Not the case of the OP, though. Children of PR born in Canada are Citizens by birth.

?

Yes, quite true. Having a Canadian child has no effect on the status of the parents. The fact that children of diplomats born here aren't Canadian is completely irrelevant to that.

OK yes, of course, the parents status is not affected just by having a child...but I guess the OP's doubt was if every case a child born in Canada is automatically Canadian? In his case yes, but not so if as I have said earlier... More clear now, I hope.
