What is the best way to find an apartment to rent in Toronto?

Hi,

I will land as a PR in Canada in March 2016.

I was wondering what is the best way to find an apartment?

Should I look for options on craigslist and kijiji now or wait till I actually land in Canada?

If I should actually start looking for an apartment after landing in Canada (I can stay with a friend for a month in Toronto), what is the most effective way to look for an apartment? Should I just look for listings on craigslist or are there other avenues?

Thanks from beforehand.

Dear Rifat

I will be landing in May 2016 IA, and im from Karachi Pakistan

My suggestion is to stay with friend or in safehomestay or similar furnished studio etc for 1st week, and then search on sites or in area.

If you are paying cash and are present in location, u will get a much better deal ..

If you want to get in touch and share landing experience, msg me

Thanks to both of you for your feedback.

I have already arranged to stay with a friend for 1 month after landing.

But I wanted to be proactive with the search process.

Having said that, I do understand that the process cannot be undertaken without being physically present there.

Thanks a lot.

Regards,
Rifat
