Post Graduate Work Permit - Got 3 years for 1 year program...???

Hello everyone,

This is the first time I'm posting a topic here. I have a question about Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).

I've just received the approval letter from CIC today. I graduated from 8-month postgrad program so I expected for the duration of the PGWP to be 8-month as well, but the letter says it's valid until 2017!

It's actually super great if I really earned 3-year working period in Canada, but I'm a little bit confused because CIC clearly states that "a post-graduation work permit cannot be valid for longer than the student’s study program".

Should I be worried or just enjoy it? (If there's already a similar post please let me know!)

Hi everyone

It's been a long while since the post has been made, but I've heard that this might be because my grades were good (GPA above 85%.) Some of my classmates were also given 3 years PGWP. I cannot guarantee anything, but hope this information helps.

my husband graduated last March for an 18months Post Graduate Pogram in Vancouver...
In his application, he applied for 2 years...

We actually thought the CIC will approve just 1 year PGWP validity...
But to our surprise! he has given a 3 YEARS PGWP!!!

One of the lucky ones i would say...
Maybe the evaluation (grades) during the study were also considered. Because he has been excelling in the whole duration.

By the way, he applied JUNE 13, 2015
and got approval yesterday SEPTEMBER 9, 2015...
3 months processing...

WE ARE SO HAPPY! Thank God!
