Hi , I am in canada on a closed work permit and my wife is holding a dependent open work permit . She is pregnant now and we are planning to invite my mother in law to canada for help.
i understand we need to show some financial statements for this. Could someone clarify if it needs to be done on both ends ( CAD bank balance for us both ) and INR bank statement for my mother in law ?

She does not have any income , she is a widow and has no property on her name .

Please clarify . we can pump in some funds into her indian bank but does it have to be 4 months statement ?
Can there be any explanation given if it is a huge amount deposited in a single month ?

please clarify

Regards,
Savio

Your MIL must demonstrate she has the finances for her visit.... however, you can also submit your bank statement apart from other documents as the host to prove that you can support her visit.

She does not have any income , she is a widow and has no property on her name .
She must provide evidence that she will return to India at the end of her visit.... these ties can include her family in India/financial investments including gold/lease or rental agreement/any previous travel history abroad, etc

Please clarify . we can pump in some funds into her indian bank but does it have to be 4 months statement ?
Your MIL must provide 6 months of recent bank statements.

I would advise against any last minute deposits in her bank account just for the purpose of the visa.... this may go against her TRV approval.

You can mention in your Invitation Letter that you will take care of her air tickets/accommodation/travel and living expenses for the duration of her visit

Having said this, (as an unofficial guide), your MIL must show about CAD 1000 per week of visit

Also, she must not give the purpose of visit as *wanting to take care of your wife/baby* as this will be viewed as unpaid work and, hence, is a negative

For how long does your MIL wish to visit?

Hi Desi_Canadian,

Sorry to hear about your mom-in-law's TRV refusal. What were the reasons? And what documents did you submit?

Thanks Bryanna. She does not have any of this to prove .

That is something which would be impossible for me to show in short notice .

Hi,

If your MIL is unable to show any ties to India (which I had mentioned in my previous post).... then I'm afraid the chances of her getting a TRV could be quite low.

No, you don't have to show CAD 24,000 to support her visit.... IMO, asking for a 6 months long visit itself may affect the chances of getting a TRV (especially in the absence of *strong ties to India* + adequate finances)

Do give another thought to the ties she can show because the visa officer wants to see reasons to return to India at the end of her visit.... even for example, she must return by a certain date for a family event/some reason.

Also you may want to consider a much shorter visit to increase her chances of a TRV approval

Cheers :)

She has two other daughters in india. Would that stand as a valid tie towards going back at the end of her stay ?

Does she live with her other daughters? Or nearby? Are they married? Grandchildren that live with her?

Also, do look into her financial situation: Does she get some pension? Does she have insurance/LIC etc? Some bank balance?

Does she volunteer for any community work or any other reason?

yes both her daughters r married and she lives with one of them . They have kids as well .

She has no pension . i dont think she has any insurance / LIC . He bank balance is not that strong and we started pumping in money and we planned tro pump in for the next 4 months to show a balance .

No community work that she s involved with that i know of.

Okay. That's good. She can prove she has family ties

When are you applying?

You'll have to look into any other ties/reasons to return.... perhaps if you give us some information about your MIL's situation.... then I may be able to suggest how to show other ties

Hi braynna
the reason for refusal is that you will not comeback.

Hi I would like to take this opportunity to ask my question.

I live in Canada as a permanent resident and I am married. My wife is permanent resident too. We have been living in Canada for 2 years now. I recently have a new baby and I am planning to invite my mother in law here in Canada. She has never travel before so has a so called virgin passport. I am planning to apply in one week time since I have almost all the documents ready.

My only concern is how to prove that she will go back home after her visa. She doesn't work, doesn't have a bank account or anything on her name. She used to have a small business but this year she did not renew the licence. Her daughter is the only kid living abroad and the rest of the kids live back home and 2 of them are married with kids. Should this one be enough to show family ties?
Thank you

i guess this qualifies for a super visa and the rejection rate for that would be very less and she can stay a maximum of 2 years. i am not sure of the process involved in the super visa.

Just another question, does ur child hold an indian passport or a canadian one ? have heard if the child has a canadian passport, its very easy

The child was born in Canada, so has a Canadian passport. I disd not want to go for Super visa cos you have to pass the medical and pay for one year insurance. my aim is, if she is given visa, we can extend it for another 6 months.

I know it's an old thread but I'm also in the same situation. Can you please share your experience? Were you able to apply for their visa and did it get approved? Thank you!
