Hi,

My EE profile got rejected twice, below is the calculation i am doing

Ielts = 20 points
ECA = 21 points
Age = 12 points
Work Experience = 15 points

Total points = 68

I just have one doubt :-

during last semester of my graduation (Jan 2009 to June 2009) i was working part time, which i included in my calculation of work experience and total comes to 6 years.

Jan 2009 to July 2009 = 30 hours a week (Part time )
July 2009 to Apr 2010 = 50 hours a week (Full time)
May 2010 till yet = 45 hours a week

can this be the reason of rejection, because i was working part time during studies and CIC will not consider experience during studies. However i have checked CIC website and there is nothing mentioned about this.

it will be much appreciated if someone can put some light on this or someone has same problem.

Your work experience during your studies doesn't count, hence you lose the work experience points and fall below 67. The work experience requirements are clearly mentioned in the Express Entry ministerial instructions too.

Work experience — requirements

(7) For the purposes of this section,

(a) a period of employment during which the foreign national was engaged in full-time study is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
(b) a period of self-employment or unauthorized work is not to be included in calculating a period of work experience;
(c) the foreign national must have had temporary resident status during their period of work experience and any period of full-time study or training; and
(d) the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience is 30 hours of work per week.

Hi Noosh,

Thanks for the link, i was just going through and found that requirement which you provided are mentioned under Canadian Work Experience, section. However i am applying from india and i have indian work experience, so i will fall under Foreign work experience. There is nothing mentioned about this under foreign work experience section.

Sorry for the doubt but just wanted to be sure. Could you please help !!

Foreign work experience

25. (1) For the purposes of sections 23 and 24, foreign work experience is work experience that

(a) is acquired by a foreign national outside Canada in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;
(b) consists of full-time work experience or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience; and
(c) is acquired within the 10-year period preceding the day on which points are assigned to the foreign national under section 23 or subsection 24(1).
Requirements

(2) In order to be assigned points under section 23 or 24 for their foreign work experience, a foreign national

(a) must specify in their expression of interest the four-digit code in the National Occupational Classification that corresponds to each of the occupations they have engaged in while accumulating their foreign work experience; and
(b) must have performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational descriptions of the National Occupational Classification, as well as a substantial number of the main duties, including all essential duties, as set out in the National Occupational Classification.
Full-time employment

(3) For the purposes of paragraph (1)(b), full-time employment consists of employment of at least 30 hours per week.

Work in excess

(4) For the purposes of sections 23 and 24, a period of work experience that exceeds full-time work in one occupation, or simultaneous periods of work experience in more than one full-time occupation, are to be evaluated as a single period of full-time work experience in a single occupation.

I have similar doubt regarding foreign work experience.

I have started my 5-year bachelor + master integrated studies in 2001, and have listened to all 5 years in 2006. At that point, i had 3 exams left to get my master's degree.
By university decision, I was able to get my bachelor's degree at any point after i had 180points, but i have never done it. In the meantime, after 2006, i was working full time in my occupation, which is 8+ full time working years.
Last month I have completed my master's degree, and now want to claim foreign work experience points in Skill transferability section.

Can someone advise if CIC officials will potentially reject work experience because my master's degree was obtained on a date which is after dates when that experience was obtained? Should I go to university and prepare documentation which will be supplement to my work experience papers, which can state that I had right to be a BsC before I ever started working, but the studies were integrated and there were no need to grab lower degree when intended to grab master's?

I know this is tricky question, and I would really appreciate if someone knows anything about this.

Same here...
My husband works continuously since 2005 and in 2009 enrolled MA in our country are going after working hours. They ended in 2014. In lists of salary in the certificate issued by his institution of employment writes that he is in their continuous service since 2005.
Did postgraduate studies in the meantime will reduce the length of service for 5 years?

Neeraj, what type of work was it? Was it an unpaid internship? Co-op? Part of the program? An apprenticeship?

The link below might help.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=394&t=6

You also need to consider what NOC skill level your part-time work fell under. Did you also continue that job/position after finishing your studies?

This is because to be considered under the Federal Skilled Worker Program:

Your work experience must have been full-time or the equivalent in part-time hours, worked continuously and paid, for at least one year in the same occupation.

If you refer to the FSW eligibility section; http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp it points out what counts:

Your work experience must be:

-at least one year (1,560 hours total / 30 hours per week), continuous full-time or an equal amount in part-time,
-paid work (volunteer work, unpaid internships do not count),
-in the same NOC skill type (0, A or B) ,
-within the last 10 years, and
-at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 National Occupational Classification (NOC)

For the equivalent part-time work, it has to have been 15 hours/week for 24 months=1 year full time (1560 hours) or 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than one job=1 year full time (1560 hours)

Refer to the table that shows the part-time and full-time work requirements.

If your part-time work is holding you back, you could work on improving your language proficieny to gain more points to make the pass mark of 67.

Hi Noosh,

So for FOREIGN work experience, if I have more than 1 year of full time, continuous, paid work experience to begin with, and then scattered work experience, (3 months, 8 months, 15 months, and 9 months) till now, all paid, all full-time and in the SAME NOC, will this all lead me to a total CUMULATIVE work experience of more than 3 years??

The last 15 months of work experience is also self-employed...

Please help guys!

All of these will count cumulatively as foreign work experience.

Hi,

Should my primary NOC the same as my work experience? I have total 10 years experience (5 years for NOC 1123 and another 5 years at NOC 6314) but the primary NOC i indicated in my EE application is 1241. I do not understand why my profile was ineligible but there are no scores displayed last Sept 23, 2015. I tried to re-submit; still the result is ineligible without scores displayed. Below is the summary of my qualifications:

• Language: IELTS Overall band score 7.5 result dated July 9, 2015 (Reading & Listening - 7.5 and Speaking & Writing – 7)
• Education: WES ECA report result dated Sept. 9, 2015 Diploma (2years) though I graduated 4-year course in the Philippines
• Work experience: total 10 yrs working experience. 5years experience in one job as PR Coordinator NOC 1123 and another5 years as Customer Service Supervisor NOC 6314
• Age: 34
• Proof of funds: CAD $14853 above
• No job offer and no relatives in Canada
• Applying as immigrant together with my husband. His details are below:
o IELTS: overall score is 6 result dated July 9, 2015 (Listening /Writing – 6.0, Speaking – 6.5 and Reading 5.5)
o Education: graduated 4-year course in the Phils. Not yet applied in WES for ECA
o Work experience: 4 years in one job as insurance executive NOC 1434
o Age: 28

Would greatly appreciate your thoughts to enlighten me on my application. Thank you.
