Waiting for PR Card after landing - add your case here

just called CIC and they told me that they mailed the card on FEB 20 - I landed on DEC 21.

ecas also shows that my PR Card application is complete. for those that were wondering, ecas shows 2 boxes, one for PR and one for PR card. basically, the PR card box was added below the first box for PR. there are separate links for each of the status checks.

when opening the PR card status check, it says when i landed and that my application for a card was on that date. it also mentions when they started processing it, and i imagine that within a few days, it will say when it was completed. official status however is "complete".

for those not seeing it, i wouldnt worry too much. i think this very much depends on the officer processing the request. so just like anything being updated on ecas, some get it quicker, some slower. but they seem to be pretty accurate with the timelines they post on the CIC site for processing times.

Can you tell us what they did wrong on the form? just a spelling error or something else? I was thinking of doing my landing at peace arch but don't want the same thing to happen to me. Please update us if when cic tells you what to do! Thanks for sharing your experience!

Basically the immigration person didn't write the date on my COPR. Services Canada said they need date and signature/initial to make a new SIN. I called CIC and have mailed out an Amendment to COPR form with photocopies of everything, along with a letter explaining my case should be treated as urgent because I need a new SIN soon (CIC call centre advised this).

They did tell me to go back to Peace Arch and get them to change it, but I actually live on Vancouver Island and took a special trip over to do PR. It is not easy for me to get there.

that is horrible!!! the date on CoPR is one of the most important information on it!!!!!!!
well, that is the date you officially became a PR and they use that date to file your new SIN, health card, etc.
does that mean they dont consider you as a PR yet or that everything is on file and they just need to update CoPR?

They can't say what it is, that is being verified, and have no estimate when it might be ready. Very frustrating, but can't really do anything, but wait....

I was sure I could return using my visitor's visa, but apparently I can't, since I am a PR now. So I need the PR card to come back to canada.... another option is to get a travel document at the canadian embassy abroad, but it's not that convenient....
oh, well....

Not sure, if there is any status. But I did my medicals in August 2013, so they are still valid, and besides I already landed, so I think it is irrelevant. Why do you ask?

Thanks so much for letting us know! I just got my COPR and going to head to Peace Arch in a few days so I will definitely make sure they sign and date! I hope they sort it out for you quickly! Sounds like it shouldn't be too hard for them to fix. Good Luck!

It was sent from the Case Processing Centre - PRC, PO Box 9000, Sydney, Nova Scotia. That's at least what it says on the information sheet included.

Just Landed today at Peace Arch. I added myself to the waiting list.

The current wait time on CIC website is 64 days. (I'm hoping it speeds up though! )

I've changed my name since then, so that means another six mo wait for the new card. LOL.

I am also considering a legal name change!
i didnt realize how long the processing time for the 2nd card was lol
its a good thing that you can still travel with your old PR card in the meantime
again congratulations and hope the rest of us hears a good new too

Did they just leave it in the mail box? Or you had to go to post office to get the card?
