Correct, passport can be carried across border by person and not through mail.

Also, your wife can do landing alone. But you (Principal applicant) must land first.

Yes, You can send both the passports.
The same thing happened with one of my friends back home.

1) He and his family were in India when he got his passport request
2) He sent their passports to me through one of our friends who was travelling to Canada that time
3) He sent all the passorts with affadavits(one for each passport) stating that he had to send their passports to Canada for PR stamping
4) He had to go through medicals for all his family members after he sent original passports to me(not sure why medicals after passport), he used the affidavit copies and passport photocopies to get the medicals done as he had already sent the original passports to me. The medicals were sent to CIC electronically.
4) I submitted the passports to CIC giving my mailing address to send them back to me (in Canada) after stamping
5) Once they were stamped and I received, all the passports were sent back to India through another friend who was travelling to India (again using affidavit copies)
6) As soon as he received his passports, he travelled immediately after 3 days with his entire family in the last week of Sep'13 and they are in Canada now.

I suggest still sending email to CPP-O to clearify everything, including file number in the subject line. The office usually gets back within 3 days (for my past experience).

My case is kind of different from you. I got married and added my spouse to my file before they requesting medical exam. There was medical exam for both of us.

The letter CIC send to you can't tell you whether your wife is added or not. The first part of the email for "Has your family composition changed since our last correspondence? Have you married or divorced?" is just the standard opening. I still get that part after adding my spouse. I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hello Sunshine,

Can you share your timeline? MR date and when you married?

I'm in a similar situation - applied jan 2013, married sept 2013. I've sent updated application to cpp Ottawa to include my wife. Still waiting for MR.

Do you think my application will be delayed ?

Thanks,

Hi,

I applied in Nov 2012 and married in May 2013. I sent them my changes of information on May 15 and they get back to me on May 17 requesting all information about my spouse. All my spouse information was sent to CIC on July 11 (takes sometime to get everything together) and received by CIC on July 12. The medical exam was requested for both of us on July 21.

I think I informed CIC about my changes early enough so they know that my spouse's information is coming. But for you, it's only about 20 days from Sept 27 to Oct 17, plus you had your medical exam already. The best I can suggest is to email CIC office. You still have 50+days to find out before sending out your passport.

Good luck!

When did your lawyer send this email?

I emailed CEC couple of times before and included my UCI in the subject line, and get back pretty soon. I needed to email them again couple days ago and didn't included my UCI in the subject line. It's been 5 days now and haven't heard anything back. I will definately will send them an email today for the same matter.

If you read carefully on the acknowledge of receiving email from CIC, it says " Please include your application number and the purpose of your email in the title." However, it also says "Sending multiple emails concerning the same request will not accelerate the response delay." I would send my email and sugguest you do the same thing because we didn't include identification number (UCI or application number) in the first email.

Best luck for both of us.

In addition to your email content below, I think you should add the following information as they are specifically requested by CIC. Those are in the CIC email. Hope this helps!

" If your request requires us to access your immigration or citizenship file, we would need the following information:

1. Surname (last name)– Exactly as it appears on the passport or identity document

2. Given name(s) (first name)– Exactly as it appears on the passport or identity document

3. Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD)

4. Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number / Client ID number

5. Application number ( F#, EP#, E#, B#)

6. Type of application (Family Sponsorship, Canadian Experience Class, Provincial Nominee, Quebec Skilled Worker)"

I've not actually got medical request yet. I did inform about my marriage plans in advance (in June 2013). My spouse already has a medical test done for Canada TRV - I included this in the updated application package to Ottawa. I'm planning to do upfront medical for myself alone.

I hope my application will not be delayed longer for adding my spouse in the middle of the processing.

Did you request GCMS? As per my GCMS, eligibility has not started.

Hi all,
I am September 2012 applicants and I got married on 17 September 2013 . I got my medical request only on 24 September 2013 I did my medical and doctor sent to them 4 of oct .
I sent the e-mail to cic about my change in martial status on 27 September 2013 . I scanned all the form required for my wife and send it to them . On oct 4 i sent them all hard copies they received my spouse's all form including PCC and every thing on 9 oct .

But on 17 they requested passport for visa . I am so confused they never ask for my wife's medical . I dnt know at this point should I send both of our passports or not . I paid all her and my fees when they requested me right of permanent fee.
Look, you have just sent in the forms for your wife, she has not yet been added to your application. DO NOT send the passports yet. If you trust your lawyer, you can wait for about one month to see if you get a response through your lawyer (but DO NOT wait past the 60 day deadline). In the meantime, if you feel you need to do something, order your GCMS notes to see if they have noted receipt of your wife's forms yet.

If you haven't heard in about a month, send an email yourself. Even though you have a representative, you can still correspond directly with CIC, it is not prohibited!

As I understand it, the problem with the Indian passport is that you cannot legally mail it from India to Canada. As long as you are authorized by the passport holder (you should have this in writing from your wife), then you are OK to carry it. It will not be a problem at all for CIC to receive the two passports together.

As much i understand your wife is not yet added to your application but wait till you hear back from CIC . They would have mentioned clearly to submit passport both for yourself and your wife but this letter looks more like they are just requesting your passport at the moment .

While you could try sending an email yourself, I have previously tried to send an email from an alternate email address and was told by CPP-Ottawa that they cannot send any information to an email address that is different from the one on my file.

Thanks a lot Friends .. Thanks Spookyb. I e-mailed from my e-mail id yesterday which is on there file . I got replied back .

Dear Sir/Madam,

This message is in response to an email received at our office.

The passport request you received was processed before your spouse was added to your application. Please ignore the request for passport at this time. The officer responsible for your file will issue a medical examination request shortly for your spouse. Once these medical examinations are completed and results are processed, we will continue with the processing of your file.
