Hi,
I am a Canadian permanent resident and I have sponsored my wife who lives outside of Canada. If she become pregnant before being approved, will she be allowed to enter Canada with her pregnancy once approved?
If anyone has a thought, please, let me know.
Thanks.

u need to do similar sponsorship process if u became dad before visa office puts visa on ur pp. u need to inform visa office as soon as u become dad. u need to provide documents of the newly born together with application. therefore it is good idea to start sponsorship process later if delivery date is close. consult doctor for medical issues

If she is pregnant, she will not be able to complete the mandatory medical examination until the pregnancy ends. So, make sure that the medical is done first.

Yes Zardoz is right get the medicals first and apply , otherwise you can not apply until the pregnancy ends as you need to submit medical along with application.

Thank you everyone for replying.
Actually, she did the medical examination 11 months ago and is not pregnant yet. The sponsorship can take up to 2 years. Next month she will have to take the medical examination again because the previous one will expire after 12 months, meaning next month. I am planning to go and visit her and I know she can pregnant while being with her. Maybe I should delay my trip.

Thanks,

Hana

Actually they changed the rules for the Medical exams and they can be extended another 12months. They just were talking about that on the forums this week. Look it up! DON'T get a new medical exam done!

you should only do the medicals if you're asked to. So if the visa office hasn't started processing the application yet and has not asked you to re-do a medical exam, don't do it. It's best to wait for the VO to ask for it. If your wife is pregnant when asked for a medical, you can inform CIC and most likely it will delay the PR : you will have to wait until your wife delivers to get the medical exam, then you will also have to add your daughter/son to the PR application. If you wait a little, she could be pregnant while already in Canada, and give birth in Canada so the baby won't need to be added to the application. But if you don't want to wait, it's also possible - it will delay your application, so just take that into account.
Good luck,
Sweden

I was an applicant who got pregnant while my PR was being processed. I let the VO know when I was 3 months along, and they seemed to have checked my papers right away because I got a call from them the very next morning.
Since my medicals were going to expire a month after this happened, they basically told me I had two options: I could either make sure I landed in Canada before my medicals expired, or I would have to wait until after the baby was born to redo my medicals so they could continue with the process.
I asked about getting an extension for my medicals, since they were still valid for a month. They said they thought I would probably not get it because they were about to expire; that they would have had to apply for the extension a couple months before. I don't know if this was a mistake by the visa officer, or if it's not, I don't know how that might have changed with the new rules of a 12-month extension. I just thought I would let you know about my case :)
