Are wedding ceremony pictures essential for a qualified PR application ?

I and my fiancée are planning to get married in Canada some point next year and once we get marriage certificate, we are going to start my PR process. However, as I read the Application guide (inland), it says “For both sponsor and applicant, marriage certificate AND, photo of wedding ceremony need to be submitted.” For our case, we want to have a well planned wedding but considering the time needed for preparation; this is not going to happen before we submit the application.

On the other hand, we have loads of evidence to proof our relationship such as skype phone bills (with numbers and minutes), same traveling visa stamps on both of our passports and, pictures while we traveling or with friends/family.

My question here is: Are wedding ceremony pictures essential for my PR application to be approved?

Why would you not submit wedding photos when they are asking for them?
Submitting as much evidence as possible if better for your case
You can have pics printed the next day and submit them with your package.
If you don't submit at least a few pics the visa officer will definitely wonder why

Submitting wedding pictures is one of the most important proof when applying for PR.I suggest you to submit at least some pics of the wedding ceremony along with the application.Good luck

Id love to provide the pictures but as I also mentioned in my original post, we want our wedding to be well planned, which would probably going to be after we submit our application...

Or should I take some fake wedding pictures like the movie "I Now pronounce you Chuck&Larry" ;D ;D

It depends on where your VO is. Some VOs are probably OK with other photos and evidence as you mentioned but others won't believe it without wedding ceremony pictures, e.g. ND will require traditional wedding ceremony (there might be some exceptions). It is cultural matters.

Well if you are applying before you get married, you'll obviouly be applying as common law and therefore there won't be any wedding pics.

No we are not going for common law, we plan to gain legal marital status(Go to city hall and get registered) and apply for PR. Actual wedding comes later.

Hi there,
We registered in the district commissioners office with plans for our traditional dream wedding in a few years when we can afford what we want. For wedding photos we had a photo of us taken with our witnesses and one of the two of us after we left the office. We explained in the question about our wedding what we did and what our plans were and what the photos we included represented.

You should have explained that you plan to go to city hall first, and then have a large proper wedding afterwards.
It just sounded like you couldn't care to take the wedding pics.
Wedding pics are very important. You should at minimum have a few pics at city hall, and a detailed explanation regarding the future wedding plans.

If you notice on the application, it asks who came to the wedding, etc AND it asks if there was a reception.

You WANT to include pictures to prove that you went to city hall, that the witnesses you listed were there- plus you have a chance on the reception question to explain that you plan on having the big party part of the wedding later.

If anyone in your family/close friends can go to the city hall wedding, that could help. They're looking for signs that you are actually in love/ want to have a future together and that you are not getting married to get Canadian residency. Any sign that either of your family members have been involved at all will help.

I mean, seriously, did you not just want one picture of the two of you when you get (legally) married? Just submit a copy of that: two smiling faces, in city hall, showing your rings or whatever.

(I imagine you were worried that you HAD to show a picture of a white dress and a big party or something culturally similar. Remember, there are all types applying and getting married legally and certainly not everyone has a western style reception at all!)

I understand your point, but making insinuations doesn't prevent them from applying if it's an MOC and is just plain rude if it is not. Not everyone gets married in a church- if you are coming to Canada, you better learn that now.

And were you denied for this exact situation? Because we got married in front of a lawyer with 2 witnesses and immediate family present, with a large party to come later. And my case has been approved.
