Thanks! :) My husband came home to take us out to lunch to celebrate but my toddler made it clear she needed a nap so she nixed our plans. But I'm still so happy we got approval!

I completely agree with you. All the horrors you need to think about like if they get the papers or if they get lost, they do give you deadlines, and if you don't meet them, they reject you, and the only way you can find out about the deadlines is if you listen 24/7 for them, or it may be their system that fails and you never receive the message that says you have a deadline and you'll never know about it, it's totally bullcrap there are no fail safes...
Oh boy, don't I know it about their deadlines. I already had a medical furtherance letter from my VO giving me one such deadline ..... dated 9 March and postmarked 29 March (thanks for stealing 20 days from me guys) asking me to do some further medical tests and have a report submitted within 90 days. ahaha. urgh. oh and they sent it to the wrong f&%$ing address too so it's kind of a little miracle that I actually received it (presumably my postman or neighbour recognised the name and made sure I got it) because if I hadn't then, well, you know. But when sending them the correction of my address via the case specific enquiry form, I received a reply informing me that they await stuff from me requested in a letter they have sent me dated 28 March, and presumably this refers to the medical furtherance letter dated 9 March but I have no way of knowing and naturally a follow-up CSE asking if it refers to the same letter and what is the ACTUAL deadline garnered no response at all.

I totally understand your frustration and fear. I am not filled with confidence either so far.

I actually just remembered that I had my husband go through our papers before submitting and fill in a bunch of N/As and NONEs by hand on the blank questions (I missed those when filling electronically) so we might very well have put NONE on that form for children but I actually have no idea since it was such a ridiculously long time ago and all. Fingers crossed.

I have received something in my mail from CIC, something I do not understand.
An empty piece of paper about payment fees. It has no instructions, no $$$ numbers, nothing. It just says "Copy 1 - Client's copy" and "Copy 2 - To be sent by client to Citizenship and Immigration Canada" and on the back side there's some blank information about the "client" (me I guess).

Does anyone know what this is or what's it for? What the hell do I do with this?

Oh that's great! I bet he put none on that form. My mistake was not copying everything before I mailed it.

How odd. You need to call them ASAP. What's on copy 1? Other than "clients copy"? Can you post a picture? Try googling. It might pull up an old forum thread.

ThunderSoul, does it have a code on it, e.g. IMM 5401?

I assume your fees are already paid in full?

I know it's possible to order the IMM5401 if you need to pay your fees at a bank instead of online at this link https://eservicesak.cic.gc.ca/kms/introinit.do?dispatch=introinit&appno=5401&lang=en and it sounds like they've sent something to that effect to you. Sending things to the wrong person. Ace.

Again, not filling us all with enormous confidence........

Sounds like you'll need to give them a call.

Well I called them........ I was very impressed the lady I was talking to was very happy and helpful... She was giggling a lot... what the f***... I have to say that I enjoyed my experience... I used to call these people almost daily and they were all groggy and rude to me... This was very... different. Whether she was laughing at me or not I don't know, but she was in a good mood and I appreciated that...

It was indeed IMM5401, but it was written in Times New Roman font size ... like 4... so I had to call them and the lady on the phone I was with pointed it out "look at the bottom" and yeah it's IMM 5401 and I do not know why they sent me this, she checked my file and said everything's alright in terms of payment and I asked to double check the missing document (IMM 5406) and she said yeah it's missing.

Although we were both confused why I received this. :\ Why would they send this...? If they're trying to scare me, I think it's working...???

I'm glad you got her. You needed that! My lady was professional but pleasant. No giggles though. Lol.

I'd not worry about what you got in the mail. Seems to be the result of a glitch.

Hi! If you check out this thread, you will see more detailed processing times. The estimated time is WAAAY longer than the real time so be happy about that. Mexico says 12 months but it is actually 6 for most. And more detailed info says that 20% are finished within 5 months.

Havana: 20% of cases completed within 5 months, 30% in 6 mo., 50% in 7 mo., 70% in 9 mo., 80% in 10 mo.

Really? Are you sure? Not to question your experience or knowledge.. I am just sitting here freaking out, waiting every single second of everyday, hoping that he will be able to come here soon. This is the most difficult thing I have ever been through in my life and I miss him more than anything. Do you know of anyone that has recently sponsored someone from Cuba?

Yes I am sure. Those numbers are published on the CIC website and they are accurate. I have not seen a Havana thread but do a search on the top right of your screen and see if you come up with any Cuban threads. Or start a brand new topic about Cuba.

This process is very hard. But I suspect you'll be done in 6-8 months. It is too bad the first step is taking 3 months vs 1 month right now because that really makes it feel LOOONG.

PS Those numbers are step 2 only, they don't include step 1 which is currently taking 3 months. So I would say you are looking at 8 months MAX if your case is straightforward and it could be less if Havana is fast. If 20% are done in 5 months then there are a portion that are done faster than 5 months. A few people from the January thread already have their visas! Not from Cuba but that shows you it can go fast.
