Here is my view and that is again based on the views of somebody I know who is in "the" scene for all his life and he is older than all of us I can assure you :)

Canada's economy is strongly connected and dependent on that of US, Asian nations such as Japan, China, Taiwan or Indonesia but also many South American nations rely on the import of commodities, oil and other goods such as food from Canada. I do understand that according to many, whatever happens to the Southern neighbor will affect Canadian markets, but we should not forget that the Americans always know how to bend the curve and be ahead of it and sometimes surprisingly they know to manage to provide solvency even during difficult times. This time on though, the picture is so different and the outlook so gloomy, but I will stay on the positive side and am sure that sooner or later, they will come up with some solution and things will pick up.

Once that happens, do not forget one more important thing; that will have a positive affect on the Canadian economy sooner than on the Europeans or elsewhere! Pretty much all of us in Europe walk behind and will notice such at least 6 to 7 months later in which periode Canada has been able to secure its bonds and assets and enable companies to recover if there are any in deep trouble. There are, but by far not as many as we can talk about.

In comparison to Europe, the Canadian economy looks pretty much like the Germans, Dutch, Swiss or Scandinavians, meaning: Solid and Innovative.

There is one thing we should be worried about is "China' and "Japan". Canadian companies largely are dependent on supply demand from China and once their markets start to slow down, that will affect the Canadians. And for the time being, we see the early signs of such occuring across Asia.

Overal outlok; things will be ok with and for Canada.
