Be patient, even though it seems that Online is taking longer, based in the December 2020 trend for those that received AOR, the process is quicker once you receive it. If you go to the December 2020 spreadsheet you will see that after they received AOR (Feb 2021) they got test invites three weeks after that and some of them are in the Interview stage, so the process is quicker once it kicks in. But it is your personal decision
thank you bro .....I will wait as you said

Guys, is it possible to withdraw the online application and reapply paper? It's 4 months already and nothing yet. They AORed March 2021 paper applications, already.

what are you guys' opinion on the current processing time ? is the 12 months posted on the website still reasonable ?

I've been browsing through the trackers and some of the older threads (Jan 2020, Dec 2019) and see very few data points, not sure if it's taking longer or people no longer come here to provide an update.

My guess is that with Covid, things would be delayed, and Citizenship is probably low on the priority list compared to visas, PR, etc...

What is your best guess now ? 18 months maybe ? longer ?

CAN I APPLY AGAIN BY PAPER AFTER SUBMITTED MY REQUEST ONLINE. 3 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE ONLINE SEEMS TO BE A VERY LONG PROCESS TO RESPOND BACK BY AOR ????
Remember to turn off your CAPS lock. Yelling in a forum about your application isn't going to move the needle on your application processing time. Everyone here is a volunteer trying to help each other out with the info they have. Be courteous to others in the forum.

Many people submitted the online application like I did but now when I check the eligibility for online it says :

At this time, you can only apply online if :

  • you’re randomly selected
  • you’re eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship (opens in a new tab)
  • you have a valid email address
  • you’re between 18 to 54 years of age when you submit your online application
  • you’re applying for yourself only (not with your family)
  • you do not have a representative(opens in a new tab)
  • in your physical presence calculation (opens in a new tab), you do not include time spent outside Canada as a
    • Crown servant (opens in a new tab) or,
    • family member of a Crown servant

so what they mean by that I"m so confused because I submitted my online requested without any selection ???!!
please help

Yup, I think it is reasonable.
They said "We are committed to processing all complete applications within the above time. (12 months)" :)

From what i understand, I think prioritizing visas and permanent resident applications over citizenship isn't really a thing.

Because they have a completely different department who takes care of naturalization and immigration. That's why all our citizenship applications go to Sydney, Nova Scotia and PR visas and any other visa extensions (applied within Canada) or permits are processed and issued by IRCC's Ottawa office.

I would say the reason behind the delay in citizenship application must be them following nova scotia's provincial restrictions of how many workers can congregate at their Citizenship Application processing centers. So due to covid they probably can't use all of their staff. Especially because they were only accepting paper applications until last year. And I doubt such a secured government department would just let their employees take any applicant's personal documents home to process.

May be that's why they started online applications so that some people can work from home without compromising the confidentiality and safety of applicants.

On top of that, of course the capacity and the number of people they used to be able to handle by doing in person post processing formalities such as mass testing, interview and oath ceremonies is also affected. That also slowed things down. Then they started online tests and oath thing. Which they got better at and made it efficient over time. So now overall applications seems to be processing a little quicker than the end of 2020.

Do not quote me on anything i said..

I'm just guessing all of that. Educated guess‍♂ may be!. Let me know if anyone else has anything to add. I could be totally wrong so I'm willing to stand corrected.
