Government Wants to Bring Immigrants, Workers and Students to Locations Throughout Canada

Canada’s Minister of Immigration, John McCallum, has said that the government of Canada hopes to bring even more newcomers to Canada, but as housing prices skyrocket in Vancouver and Toronto his government hopes to lure them to other locations. Minister McCallum also cited labour market shortages and aging populations as further reasons to populate certain regions.


Quebec Skilled Worker Program Reaches Intake Cap Within Hours of Opening

The submission period for applications to the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP) has closed at 1:19 p.m. on August 16, hours after opening at 8:30 a.m. the same day. The maximum number of 5,000 applications to the QSWP were received through Mon projet Québec, the online immigration application management system used by the government of Quebec to receive applications for the QSWP.

754 Candidates for Immigration to Canada Invited to Apply for Permanent Residence in Latest Express Entry Draw

The latest draw from the Express Entry pool has seen a total of 754 candidates being issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence. The draw took place the morning of August 10, 2016, and is the fortieth draw since the Canadian immigration selection system was launched in January, 2015. Each candidate who received an ITA had 490 or more Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points.

BC Invites Candidates to Apply for Immigration to Canada through BC PNP in August 4 Draw

The province of British Columbia (BC) has issued 602 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to candidates for immigration to Canada through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). The ITAs were issued across three categories: Express Entry BC - Skilled Worker, Express Entry BC - International Graduate, and Skills Immigration – Entry Level and Semi-Skilled.


Manitoba Invites 609 Candidates to Apply to Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

Manitoba has conducted the nineteenth draw under its Expression of Interest (EOI) immigration system, with a total of 609 candidates issued a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) on July 29, 2016. This province, located in central Canada, issues LAAs through two sub-categories of the Skilled Workers category of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP); 155 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued to candidates through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba sub-category, while 454 LAAs were issued through the Skilled Workers Overseas sub-category.


IRCC Invites 755 Candidates to Apply for Immigration to Canada in Latest Express Entry Draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has invited 755 candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence in the latest draw from the Express Entry pool, which took place on July 27, 2016. The minimum number of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points required in order for a candidate to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) was 488.
