More women becoming entrepreneurs in Canada

the CanadaVisa Team - 08 April, 2011

Statistics Canada has indicated that there are over 826,000 women who are entrepreneurs in Canada. The number of self-employed women in Canada has increased by 50%.

Currently, four out of every five new businesses are started by women, who contribute more than $18 billion to the Canadian economy. Most of these businesses are very successful and grow 60% faster than business run by men.

Women are choosing to start their own businesses to enjoy the flexibility of having control over the number of hours worked and their salary.

Canada has a number of immigration programs aimed at entrepreneurs. Those looking to start a business or invest in a business in Canada are able to apply through the Federal Business Program, Quebec Business Program, and various Provincial Business Programs.
