I am sure I have read in the guide somewhere that we should only take into consideration our studies AFTER elementary (primary) school. This means only high-school and onwards. Is that correct? In either case can you link me to an official page that says that? Thank you

Almost.... I know this table. What I am asking is  which studies are counted.
For example, my wife has:

4 years elementary school
6 years high-school
6 years medical university
1 year residency
2 years Master's degree

How many of those should we count for points? Does anyone know how many points we will surely gather with these studies?

Education after grade 12 (high school)will be counted if she is the Primary applicant or else if she is Co applicant, then the Primary applicant will get a max point of 4 if your spouse has a Bachelor's degree.

No no what you just said doesn't exist. Some people say ONLY secondary and onwards (which includes high-school) will count and others (in this forum) say that elementary school counts too.

Anyway that knows and is certain about it? preferably with linking us to the answer?

Please check the link again: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/factor-education.asp

You would get a minimum of 5 points if you have completed high school. No points for elementary school.

I apologise if my previous post indicated otherwise.

Again, what you are answering is completely irrelevant to my question. Yes you will not get any points if you have ONLY finished elementary school but if you have master's degree, the elementary school years might count.

And I insist, many people in this forum answered to others with my question that ALL years (including elementary) count. What's up with that? Can someone that is 100% sure answer please?

Total number of years for education  = You have to count from Elementary.

Details of  institutions where studied =  You have to show  from Secondary and post secondary.

Your points for the given education level is = 25

Thank you WIlson and although this is what I wanted to hear, I feel obligated to ask why are there so many people disagreeing on that. There is noone or no page that makes this clear?

I have also a Masters degree and counted all the years of education  starting with elementary school. Smiley
In all the instruction that I found this is how it should be counted.

It was not a question of disagreement...but a case of misunderstanding. I should have probably just told you how many points you spouse would be getting....sorry for the misunderstanding.

I think perhaps many people might have got confusion  from  the check list which shows :

Education/Training/Qualifications:

For you, your accompanying spouse or common-law partner

Post-Secondary education documents : Vocational or Technical certificates or diplomas

Guys, threre is no disagreement (I hope so)

I will give one example in which logic will tell us that elementary school must be counted toward the total number of years:

You have a university degree of two years or more at the bachelor's level and at least 14 years of full-time or full-time equivalent study.   20 points

4 ys - elementary
4 ys - secondary
4 ys- high school
2 ys- university (minimum required)

If we don't count the elementary school that means that we are left with 10 years total or we need a 6 year university.

 Cool Cool

alex i understand your logical example but i do not think that the VO will care about logic! Check what wilson posted in Blue letters. This clearly leaves out elementary school and i NEED someone to tell me that he knows for SURE that we count elementary! We need the 3 extra points!!!
