Hi

My husband has a three year work visa for Canada, if he gave up his job would his visa be cancelled or will it still allow access into and out of for Canada for the duration of the work visa ? We would not be working.

Thanks

The CBSA officers at the Port of Entry could deny entry if they question about his purpose of entering Canada and learn that he is not working per his visa and work permit.

Hi

Thanks for that but how would they know? Usually we just give over our passports with his visa inside and explain I am on my husbands as per the note in my passport and written on his permit.

What I really want to know is would his employer inform Immigration he no longer was employed by them? is it something they legally are required to do?

Hope someone can advise

You are legally required to not lie, but if you are not asked... Smiley

There is no doubt in my mind that immigration have access to employment records, but that does not mean they access them on every occasion.

CBSA officers often call employers to verify work permits.

They would know if the employer advised CIC that he was no longer working for them.  And if they called the employer when he enters Canada if they want to verify that he is still working for them.  It's up to the CBSA officer.
