Would these changes raise a red flag to Airport Border Agents?

I plan to visit my Fiance in May. Usually I take Air Canada exclusively From Portland to Calgary and back with Customs in Vancouver both ways. This time I am thinking of a combination of Horizon Air to Vancouver, then customs, then Air Canada to calgary, and then taking Horizon Air Back to Portland (customs in Calgary).
The question is, would the agents get uptight about me changing carriers like this (since i would have not done this previously) and just send me home from Vancouver, or should I just go the way I usually have done and not get the agents upset?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

They dont care what airline you take. They only care that you follow the regulations.
