my boyfriend and I plan to apply for common law sponsorship. The thing is that we spent 2 months traveling and staying in different places (always together of course) but I am wondering will this disqualify us from applying as a common law couple?

We lived together for 4 months then travelled for 2 months (got rid of our apartment and left our stuff at a friends' and stayed in hotels, hostals and the houses of friends and family in different cities) then moved into a new apartment together after the trip.

I really hope we will still qualify, we were just living a hippie kind of life for awhile!

Well, you lived together for those two months even if you didn't have an apartment. Can't see why they'd be upset about that. Just provide proof of your trip together.

Pretty much our whole year being common-law is based on us travelling/backpacking so I hope not!

You should have no problem, JUST PROVE that you were together.  Receipts in both names, travel tickets etc etc.  Prove your relationship and you will be fine.

Regards,

Raymond.

we don't really have tickets because for the first month we were travelling by car...i may have a few bus tickets somewhere but we didn't really know we would need them so we didn't keep them... and we don't have receipts for anything, hotels don't give receipts here... all we have is a journal i kept along the way and tons of pictures of every place including most of the hotels or houses we stayed at... should i write out the intinerary and put pictures of each place to prove it???

Yes, I would try to pick a picture of the two of you at each place if you can.  Anything that shows that you were together during this time is useful, although any kind of receipts would also be nice.

I'm thinking that the journal could also be useful if you can find a way to take excerpts from it.
