Hello

I have a little complicated situation and was wondering if you could provide some advice.

I am in canada on a working holiday visa teaching skiing and golf in summer.
I am also a web designer is it possible to start my own business to supplement my income? is this allowed in the canada/australia visa?

My husband and I are also presently applying for a skilled worker permit as he is a tradesperson, I will apply as his spouse

Thankyou for your time

self employment or small business has been categorized as "work" many times. But should consult taxation aspects as well.

If you have a valid work permit (even working holiday visa), yes, you are allowed to start your own business - I did the same.  Check this website to get more info: http://www.smallbusinessbc.ca/. Also, CRA was quite helpful in my case, I called them and they were really nice and explained all the steps I needed to do. You can even register your HST number over the phone so it is quite easy to get it all started. Good luck!
