Have you thought about going to the border and get your new work visa there?

In case you are receiving your LMO after being refused your work permit, and assuming you are from a visa-extent country, can you cross the border and do the restoration / new work permit process?

Thanks!

 @  Yumi

Yes (from the information I have been give),you can cross the border and re-enter as long as you are from a visa-exempt country and are within your 90 day restoration period and process the new work visa.

Yes!! Last Friday I received my LMO (finally!), so I crossed the border and I asked for the restoration of status... and I have my new work permit!

Well my company applied for the LMO 13th April, but then They applied for the Accelerated LMO, and it took around 6 business days! (it was with the same employer). When I lost my status I stopped working (thankfully it was only a few days!), and then crossed the border with my LMO and I explained to the officer my situation: that I was in Implied Status and then I received the refused letter a few days ago, and now I had my LMO, etc.... I brought all my documents (LMO, letter of the company indicating: salary, type of contract, roles of my position, etc.;  documents to verify that you fit for the position :resumes, master or bachelor degree, letters of reference, etc. and everything was well...! better than expected! It took 30 minutes maybe.

Oh no, it took it 34 days because he probably did by mail. Currently I think it is taking around 40? I am not sure though. But, if you are from an extent-country visa, you can go to the border and you will have your new visa right away.

Hi,

I would like to give an update on the WP+Restoration process.

My WP got rejected on May 11th and I got my LMO on May 22nd. I have submitted my restoration(LMO+WP) application on June 5th. When I contacted the CIC call center, I was told that my application has been sent to the Visa Officer on June 25th and my application will be processed by October end. . I have contacted the CIC call center couple of times but they always tell it takes time and it will be processed by October end. Today(August 24th) I got a approved WP copy from my Lawyer. Actually it has been processed by August 20th and sent the WP copy to my lawyer on the same day.

Hi Yumi,

When you went to the border to get your restoration, had you already applied for a new work permit or restoration online? Or did you just bring the application to the border?
