Work Permit thru Detroit Canadian Consulate

Hi all,
          This forum has been great help throught my process of AINP. I would like to take a moment and would like to thank all the members.

I am planing to go to Detroit Canadian Embassy for the Work Permit on the basis of support letter from AINP. I am sure many of you may have gone for work permit to Detroit Consulate, can you please share your experience? I am looking how long will they take to process work permit application if I appear in-person, will I get my stamping done on same day, do I need to take special consideration for how I carry document? during the same time I am planing to apply for open work permit for my spouse, what do I need to do for it? any other help would be greatly appreciated.
