Hi everyone,
I am going to appy for a study permit, since I have been accepted for a Master in a Canadian University. I want my spouse to come with me to Canada. We are both bachelors in Computer Science. I would like to know what is the procedure to apply for a work permit for my spouse. Do we have to make a separate application to apply for a work permit for her? And another question, the proof of founds must be for the two years of the Master or just for the first one? Thank you very much.

1.  She can apply at the same time you apply for the study permit, but it is quite likely that she will be told to apply at the POE when you arrive.
2.  You need proof of funds for 1 year, proof of paying the tuition and about $14K for living expenses for the year for the 2 of you.

Thank you PPM for your answer, just a couple of questions.
1-What is is the process to apply at the POE? Is there any link you can give me about this? How long does this process take?
2-Can the money for the proof of funds be in bank account in a Canadian Bank or does it have to be in a bank in my country? Since I am not sure to get a visa, I think it's not very logical to have a bank account in Canada, is it?

Thank you PPM, Regards.

Hi

Straight forward you are both sent to secondary at the Airport to get you study visa and your spouse applies for an open work permit at the same time, $150.00

2-Can the money for the proof of funds be in bank account in a Canadian Bank or does it have to be in a bank in my country? Since I am not sure to get a visa, I think it's not very logical to have a bank account in Canada, is it?

The money can be anywhere you want it to be.
Thank you PPM, Regards.
