One of my friends is working with a work permit. Unintentially he forgot to renew his work permit and he posted his application with a week earlier date as 7 days has been passed from his work permit. He is still working as his employer has not paid attention to it.
Is he doing the right thing or he is doing an illegal act?
Is it possible Vegreville calls his employer?
What is going to happen in that case?
What is the best he can do now?
What are the consequences?

Thanks. Everything looks good but it does not say he can not work during these 90 days. Is he breaking the law by continue working or not? does he have to quit and ask his employer to re-hire him or he can continue working?
Please advise!

He has lost his status since his work permit expired. It is illegal to work in this case (he is not in implied status).

He has to apply for restoration of status (within 90 days of work permit expiry) along with the work permit application. He can only stay in Canada till he hears back from CIC.
