Hi,

Just a quick question.

I have 2 years work experience in Canada

I have applied for permanent residency as I have been offered a permanent job offer.

What would happen to my permanent residency application if I am unable to extend my work permit due to LMO issues?

I think this is what happened to me.

I had a VISA that had 3 months left on it. Took a perm job, applied for PNP, and was nominated. Once nominated, you will be given a work permit supporting letter, which you take to the border, and they will give you a new permit.

If your work permit expires before you get your nomination, you can try to apply for an extension, which will likely be declined as it's a working holiday permit (I am guessing) but it would buy you some time.

If you have 2 years of canadian experience - why dont u apply under CEC? mayb that will move faster and you will have the PR before feb 2013..when your WP expires..

To Kets...

I was exactly  in the same situation. I applied for my PR in 2010 and my work permit was valid until December 2011... Did not hear anything form Buffalo until November 2011...In November i was asked to take medicals... Did it immediately and also submitted it before the expiry of my work permit.

In the mean time my employer applied for LMO again... My application for work permit got  rejected as my  LMO was in process and then my LMO got rejected as well... Man Nobody knows how pissed of I was and even now i am unable to stop thinking of this *censored word*.

My employer again applied for LMO which is in process still.. I did not apply for my extension of work permit again as my LMO is still in process.. I got a letter form Buffalo stating that they would give me 60 days to show them a valid status to issue me PR....

I applied for PR in CEC and left the country...
