Work Permit Applications at NYC for 2013

Hi,

I applied for work permit on Jan 7 2013. As usual, haven't heard back from them.

Average processing time as mentioned on the NYC consulate's website is 30 days. First, wanted to know if it is suggested to get in touch with the consulate for an update on my application by email ?

Also, Would like to know the timeline for any others on the forum who applied in the year 2013 / have received their work permits in the year 2013.

My husband applied on 9th Jan, have not heard anything yet. We are thinking to send an email on or after 9th Feb (30 days processing time). If you hear anything back, kindly update me as well.

I applied my work permit in November, I sent my application on 21st November, was received on 22nd November. I did not hear anything from them until the 30th January when my prospective employer contacted their MP. The MP sent me some form to sign authorizing their office to follow up my application. I was surprised to be told on the 1st of February that my application is being processed in Los Angeles not New York, and will be reviewed end of February.

I don't know if this is a good sign or not. Rely don't know what the outcome will be, just praying that everything should be ok.

Meanwhile, reposting Rusty21's post here to keep all updates from New york consulate for work permit (year 2013) at one place.

"I got my visa and work permit on 31st jan 2013, I applied on 18 dec 2012(6 weeks). USPS and CIC new york did a good job in my case,I hope every one applied will get the work/permit visa soon."

Applied on 1/24 in NY consulate. No word yet. Website says 2 months processing time but I have heard its taking around 3 months. My I94 is expiring on 4/10. Not sure if i will get my passport before that.

Hi - I applied for my work permit under Intra company transfer through my employer, no LMO required.
It was on Dec 14, i am celebrating completion of 2 months with no response along with Valentine's Day!

Hi Cherrynoir - I've applied thru' my employer and in turn my employer engaged some attorney to interact with Consulate while filed my application.  I've contacted my employer few days back, go response as "In Process".  I am advised, not to contact consulate directly.  So keeping my fingers crossed and waaaaaiting....

Exactly 90 days, but nothing from the consulate. Getting really worried now. I hope my employers won't give up.
