Work Permit Application

Hi everyone!

I am in Canada and would like to apply for a Work Permit outside the country since I am not eligible to apply inside. Which office do you suggest me to apply at, Buffalo or Detroit? Anyone who applied in Buffalo or Detroit please share your experience. By the way, I am done with my medical exam and CIC has the result already as verified today.

Do you suggest me to get a U.S. visa first before sending in my application? The nearest U.S. embassy would be Toronto. I have a very slim chance of getting approved since I am just a visitor here and Philippines is my home country.

Do they normally require an interview for a WP application? The job level is under Skill Level 0.

You may mail your application to either offices.  You may want to check the statistics for processing times for Canadian Visa offices, and submit your papers to the office that processes cases faster.

They sometimes require interviews, but as far as I know, they seldomly do it. As long as you have a positive LMO, are healthy and have complete requirements, chances are there wouldn't be problems. Thing is, if they would want to interview you, you need a travel visa to the US.
