Hello Everyone,

I have one major question regarding the evaluation of my work experience for 1122, which is expected to open this June.

 - I have worked at COMPANY-A from July 2007 to April 2009 (22 months), then I resigned and was involved in some entrepreneurial ventures.
 - I got a re-offer from COMPANY-A again and I joined back in February 2010 after a 9 months gap. I'm still at the same company today with another tenure of about 15 months)
 - Technically now I have 37 months of work experience with COMPANY-A (3+ years, but less that 4 years) - FULL TIME, but not continuous

Now, since I took a break during those 9 months, will my work experience not be considered to 3+ years for Canadian immigration purposes?

During the 9 months break, I was working on a few ventures and completing my MBA degree. I was also an adjunct faculty member at a university.

Pls advise, as someone just told me that because my work experience is NOT continuous, it will be discounted to 2 years only. And hence will this decrease my expected points for being eligible?

The work experience is counted in number of months worked in last 10 years and it is not required to be continues as long as you can provide the required documents it will be counted for PR.

I understand what you are saying, but my consultant negated that and is mentioning this instead:

"For the purpose of Canadian immigration, the experience should be full time, paid and "continuous". As such, due to this gap, it appears that your experience will be reduced 2 years from 3 as was initially understood which will result in reduction of 2 points on selection grid reducing your overall score to 65. "

I don't get this because, if I technically have 3+ years of experience at a multinational company, why would it be reduced to 2 years? Does this make sense?  Shocked

For the purpose of meeting the Ministerial Instructions, the work must be continuous for a MINIMUM of ONE FULL PAID YEAR in one of the NOC 29 occupations.  Once you have that 12 months under your belt, any other work can be added by the month (to the maxiumum of 4 years) as long as it was performed in the past 10 years and is in skill level O, A or B...Hope this helps.

Your consultant is either talking bull - or lacks understanding of the CIC regulations.
Take Pippin's opinion - if u fulfil the basic requirement of getting into one of the NOCs [in the 29 list], any other experience stand counted by the month/days...

Hi dimenxions!
In order to qualify for immigration, you should have atleast 1 year full time continuous experience in one of the eligible occupations.
The remaining experience is counted in months and need not be continuous. However the 1 year that helps you qualify, has to be.

In your case you are eligible because you have a minimum of 12 months continuous experience and your overall experience will be counted as 37 months of work ex.
My work exp in terms of continuity is the same as yours and I have made it to the medicals stage.

HI! we shared the same problem... I used to have a not continuous work experience in one category of job which is what now I am applying for right now in canada

I already passed the employers interview but then we need to wait for the LMO as what advised by the agency.

My question is... im worried about my educational background.  I completed only 50 units in college ( because they say that at least 72 units is required to migrate to canada ... Is this true?

Hope you could answer my querry thanks for advance
