I know that everyone is telling me you don't need any income to show if you are sponsoring your spouse, as long as you tell them how you plan to re establish yourself in Canada.  I am in the US right now as a stay at home mom and my spouse is the sole provider.  I'm just wondering how many others were in a similar situation to mine and had no problem getting the approval for eligible to sponsor status.  I plan to work when I move to Canada while my parents help watch our kids.

If you read around the forum, you will find examples of many student spouses, and others who were dependent on their spouse's income who were approved to sponsor.  Canada does not require a specific income from spousal sponsors, financially you only need to prove you are not on social assistance except for reason of disability, you are not an undischarged bankrupt, and you have a plan for your life that does not include reliance on social assistance to meet your basic needs.

Me and my partner are both students, I'm the sponsor, I had no income, he had very little income, we both had a little savings in the bank and had a letter from my parents stating we could stay with them until we got on our feet.

As you can see from my timeline we were approved no problem.

The only thing we sent for them was a letter from them (not notarized) saying that we could live with them and they would provide us with basic necessities should we have the need.

CIC just wants to see you've got a basic plan, and you've got support for when you get here. You will be approved without income, don't worry.

Lemondrop, I donīt understand why you are worried. We are allowed to be mothers, are we not? And as a mom, itīs normal to stay at home for a while. Why shouldnīt we be approved as as sponsors? Noone can forbid us to have kids. Donīt worry, it will be all fine.

I had no income when I mailed out my application to sponsor my wife as I recently moved from the USA and was preparing for my licensing exam plus I did not want to wait until I find a job. So I applied with no income. My sponsorship was approved without any problem. Unfortunately I got a job a week after I applied. But I had no option but wait until our file goes to a VO and we get a file number. So after we got a file number, I emailed my VO about update in employment status attaching pay stubs as a proof.

Thanks.

Even though I had no income, I made sure that they get assured with my future plan and how we gonna support ourselves, showing them enough bank balance and previous pay stubs.

I believe you can show that too. It would be much easier if the person to be sponsored is from the country which has a currency that is equivalent or higher than CAD.

Showing in CAD will be the best I guess. Still something is better than nothing, if you are not able to show Canadian Bank balance for some reason.

Kuku,
Did you send your bank statements?  like your chequing or savings?
