Hi guys, please bear with me since I'm still starting on my application for the Live-In Caregiver program, just got the approved LMO last week.
My question is--I'm currently single, (so that is my status on the LMO application which was applied by my employer), now my employer informed me that I would need to submit the additional papers for the Immigration application not later than October this year (so I would still be single by then).

The thing is, if I were to get married soon (before actually flying to Canada),
-will the change of status affect my application?
-will I need to inform the Embassy of such plan?
-where I can direct this question?

hi there...CONGRATULATION!

if your planning to get married theres no issue on your application..just put single on your staus on the time/date you sign your application. during the process of your application when u get married and change status...thats the time you inform embassy. call or attached your marriage certificate when you submit additional information to the embassy. simple as that.

you may also bring a copy your marriage cert at hand in case you  need them with you when you pass immigration at the airport.

Is this actually stated in the Canadian Immigration website somewhere? I have been scouring the site but couldn't find a particular statement regarding this query.

But you know if I were you I will not marry yet.  If your goal is to be a permanent residence first, it is quicker to be one when you are single than when you are married.  So why not wait for let say 3 more years?  Anyways, it so easy to go home when you are PR already. This is just an advice.

It's not quicker because she is single.  And the goal would be permanent residence WITH her husband.  So it's actually quicker to get everything done if she is already married when it comes time to apply for PR under the LCP.  Otherwise she has to be granted PR and then sponsor her husband.  Takes much longer for the final goal to be achieved.
