Please, would really appreciate some news regarding visa extension.I will be applying for PR under common law next month and has anybody been rejected for a visa extension and renewal while waiting for PR approval? I will be applying outland and will continue living with my boyfriend in Canada. Could not bear to be parted from him. At the moment I am on student visa.

You will most likely have to apply to change your conditions to "visitor" (depends on the terms of  your student visa) but if you include proof of your qualifying relationship, proof of the PR ap in process and proof that you (or he) have funds to support you, there should be no reason that they would deny the extension.  Be sure it's mailed so that it's received by them BEFORE your current status expires.  Track the mailing and get delivery confirmation, that's your proof of "implied status" to remain in Canada until they make a decision.  It's currently taking more than 100 days for them to assess extension aps, so don't worry if you don't hear back right away.  Just keep in mind that, if you leave Canada, your "implied status" goes away and you might not get back in.
