Need a little help from senior members here, my wife and I desperately need some advice....

My wife has been in Canada since December 2010, and has been working as a casual nursing assistant at Alberta. We will be submitting our FAM application on August 12. But due to difficulties at her place of residence (mostly family issues), she will be flying home right after we submit the FAM. However, we are worried about her approval as a sponsor, for the following reasons:

- she has been working as a casual employee since she arrived in Canada.
- she will be resigning from her job when she flies back home, we will head back to Canada together once my PR gets approved.
- she will submit her payslips from this year and a COE, but we're afraid that it won't be valid since she will be resigning anyway.

What advice can you give us? Do you think it is safe for her to go home right after submitting our application to CPC-M without waiting for sponsor approval first? I am worried about her domestic situation, it has become an unnecessary source of stress for her, that's why we decided that she would go home and wait for my PR application with me here in the Philippines.

Thanks in advance for everyone's help! :-)

Is your wife a PR or a Canadian citizen? If she is a citizen, she can sponsor you and wait with you in the Philippines. If she is a PR she has to stay in Canada during the whole time it takes to process your PR application, though short vacations outside Canada are OK.

She is a PR... I was afraid of that answer... She has been having difficulty dealing with the relatives she has been living with, and we were thinking if it was possible for her to wait out the PR approval for myself back home in the Philippines... Oh well...  Cry

Just curious, what would happen if she just waits out the sponsor approval part, and then heads home to wait out the PR approval part? Would that be the same thing?

A PR is supposed to stay in Canada during the whole process. If the visa officer processing the file finds out the sponsor has left Canada, the application will be denied. Of course, if the VO does not find out, everything might be fine. At the interview, though, the VO will ask about the sponsor's life in Canada, and if you lie and are found out, your visa will be denied and you will be banned for two years.
Manila processes spousal visas quite quickly, on average. It would be best if your wife stays in Canada while waiting.

some VOs ask for sponsor updates during the process and towards the end of the process if it takes longer...probably, especially for PR's, they could ask again for the same updated proofs, residency proofs especially (income is not the major factor in spouse cases)....once she is approved as sponsor her eligibility is not written in stone....she needs to be eligible during the process and in the moment they are ready to give u the visa
why is she living with those people?....Canada is big, she could move by herself somewhere else even other province....but, it's important for ur future together that she stays in Canada...good luck!
