OK I really wish we were home and I am going out of my mind but since we are not I am going to think positive...
I am glad we are not in Canada yet because we live in a place that has a winter that lasts 3.5 days.
So I can stock up on fancy designer sweaters that have never been worn from the Rich Lady Goodwill Store for $3.99 each.
We may not be in Canada but you can't tell that from looking at my closets. All hail Talbot's, Anne Taylor and J. Crew.

Bad news = We don't actually have any J. Crew stores in Canada yet. Good news = First one is supposed to be opening in Toronto in August.

LOL. I have never been in a real J. Crew store in my life. I just wait for the maids to take the rich kids clothes to the Goodwill store.
I am way to cheap to buy retail.

I should follow your lead. I am not looking forward to north Alberta winters. They're like Idaho winters (which I lived through for almost a decade, I'm in beautiful and mild weathered Oregon now) and I HATE SNOW and subfreezing temps. But I love my hubby enough to suck it up and deal with it Good winter clothes make all the difference!

my biggest mistake was buying too many sweaters/heavy clothing before I got here! even in the middle of winter, the moment I go inside anywhere, I am sweating profusely.
the trick is LAYERING, layering, layering! I wear short sleeves all year long, combined with either a light, medium, or heavy winter jacket (depending on time of year). in the winter, I don't need more than that - even at -20 C! and I can take off a jacket easily the moment I go indoors.

Agreed, and the ones here are huge! My boyfriend and I were helping his parents move one day and they came out of nowhere. They looked like something out of Jurrasic Park. I also miss Victoria's Secret, Aeropostale, and being able to swim outside in a pool in the summer. Too cool to do that here in Northern Alberta.

Lots of mosquitoes in southern China too, but they are smaller, swifter, and craftier than the huge slow ones in Canada. They don't fly up in front of you, where you have a fighting chance of killing them,; instead they get down beside you, on the bed sheets, and bite you when you're not expecting it. And I believe that a single one can bite several times, not just once as the fat ones do in Canada.
On balance I prefer the fairer fight the fat ones i Canada offer.
In China , many people buy zappers. Look like tennis racquets, you push a button to electrify the steel mesh, and you can zap the mosquitoes as they fly, or as they lurk on the sheets. You put the racquet near them, and they don't seem to be aware of it and will often fly against the electric mesh. BZAP!! Gone. Very satisfying if you've been bitten a few times, and really would like to get a good night's sleep.
The fast ones here can feel the oncoming rush of air as you try to smack them with your hand, but there is no air rush with these racquets. Are they available in Canada?

Goodness almost an exact carbon copy of the annoying little buggers we have in Thailand... we also have the daytime and night time versions quite different the ones in the day time have a striped body and they do bite multiple times and swell up like a bugger.. I am NOT going to miss them at all.

I'm only here for 2 weeks, but I was in Square One in Mississauga (Greater Toronto Area) and there was a Victoria Secret. I guess right now it's only in the major urban centres but that it will expand more in the next few years.
